SCWN738
- The object is not identical and the object is overwritten ?The SAP error message SCWN738, which states "The object is not identical and the object is overwritten," typically occurs in the context of transport management or when dealing with objects in the SAP system that are being modified or transported between different environments (e.g., from development to quality assurance or production).
Cause:
This error usually arises when:
- Object Version Mismatch: The object you are trying to transport or overwrite has been modified in the target system after the last transport was imported. This means that the version of the object in the target system is different from the one in the transport request.
- Conflicting Changes: There are conflicting changes made to the same object in different systems, leading to a situation where the system cannot determine which version should be kept.
- Transport Request Issues: The transport request may not be correctly configured or may have been incorrectly imported.
Solution:
To resolve the SCWN738 error, you can take the following steps:
Check Object Versions: Compare the versions of the object in the source and target systems. You can do this by checking the object in the relevant transaction (e.g., SE80 for development objects) to see the differences.
Manual Adjustment: If the changes in the target system are valid and should be kept, you may need to manually adjust the object in the source system to match the target system before attempting to transport it again.
Transport Request Management:
- If the object in the target system is not needed, you can delete or revert the changes in the target system to match the source system.
- If the object in the target system is needed, consider creating a new transport request that includes the necessary changes.
Use of Transport Organizer: Utilize the Transport Organizer (transaction SE09 or SE10) to manage your transport requests effectively. You can check for any inconsistencies or issues with the transport requests.
Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or notes related to transport management and object versioning for any specific guidance related to your scenario.
Seek Help from Basis Team: If you are unable to resolve the issue, it may be beneficial to involve your SAP Basis team, as they can provide insights into transport logs and system configurations.
