Message class: SCURMAINT - Messages for New Exchange Rate Maintenance
Message number: 003
Message text: Table TCURR is locked by user &
You want to enter exchange rates for a worklist.
At present, however, it is not possible to enter exchange rates for any
worklist, as user & has locked table TCURR using the old exchange rate
entry transaction 0808.
To allow two or more users to enter exchange rates simultaneously, all
users must use the new transaction TCURMNT.
Otherwise, it is only possible for one user at a time to edit
worklists.
Note, however, that only one user can edit a given worklist at any one
time.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Wait until user & has finished entering his/her exchange rates and has
left transaction 0808.

SCURMAINT003
- Table TCURR is locked by user & ?The SAP error message SCURMAINT003 indicates that the table TCURR, which is used for currency exchange rates, is currently locked by another user. This can happen during various operations, such as when a user is updating or maintaining currency exchange rates in the system.
Cause:
- Concurrent Access: Another user is currently accessing or modifying the TCURR table, which prevents other users from making changes until the lock is released.
- Long-Running Transactions: A transaction that takes a long time to complete may hold the lock longer than expected.
- System Issues: Sometimes, system issues or improper termination of transactions can leave locks in place.
Solution:
- Wait and Retry: The simplest solution is to wait for the other user to complete their transaction. After a short period, try your operation again.
- Identify the Locking User:
- Use transaction code SM12 to view the list of locks in the system. You can filter by the table name (TCURR) to find out which user is holding the lock.
- If necessary, you can contact the user holding the lock to ask them to complete their transaction.
- Release the Lock: If you have the necessary authorizations and it is appropriate to do so, you can manually delete the lock from SM12. However, this should be done with caution, as it may lead to data inconsistencies if the other user is still working on the data.
- Check for Long-Running Transactions: Use transaction code SM66 to monitor active processes in the system. If you find a long-running transaction that is holding the lock, you may need to investigate further.
- System Administration: If this issue occurs frequently, it may be worth discussing with your SAP Basis team to analyze the locking behavior and optimize the processes that access the TCURR table.
