Message text: Log is empty
You want to display the activation log of the logical container. This is
not possible.
The activation log can only be displayed directly after the activation
of the logical container. The activation in question never took place,
however, or took place further in the past.
If you want to display information about the logical container, you can
use the log viewer for HDI containers. In the ABAP system, this viewer
displays all log information created on the HDI side about the physical
container.
Note: This is a detailed log that contains further information about the
physical container alongside information about the HDI deployment.
To launch the log viewer for HDI containers, choose <LS>Utilities ->
Display HDI Container Log</>.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

- Log is empty ?The SAP error message SCTS_HDI498, which indicates that the log is empty, typically occurs in the context of SAP HANA Database and HDI (HANA Deployment Infrastructure) containers. This error can arise during various operations, such as deployment or migration of database artifacts.
Cause:
- No Logs Generated: The most straightforward cause is that the operation you attempted did not generate any logs. This can happen if the operation was not executed properly or if it was aborted before any logging could occur.
- Permissions Issues: The user executing the operation may not have the necessary permissions to write logs or access the log files.
- Configuration Issues: There may be misconfigurations in the HDI container or the deployment process that prevent logs from being generated.
- Resource Limitations: If the system is under heavy load or if there are resource constraints, logging may not function as expected.
Solution:
- Check Operation Status: Ensure that the operation you were trying to perform was executed correctly. If it failed, check for any other error messages that might provide more context.
- Review Permissions: Verify that the user has the necessary permissions to access and write logs. You may need to adjust roles or privileges in the SAP HANA system.
- Inspect Configuration: Review the configuration settings for the HDI container and ensure that everything is set up correctly. This includes checking the deployment settings and any related environment variables.
- Check System Resources: Monitor the system resources (CPU, memory, disk space) to ensure that there are no bottlenecks that could affect logging.
- Consult Logs: If possible, check other logs in the system (e.g., system logs, application logs) to see if there are any related messages that could provide more insight into the issue.
- Retry the Operation: Sometimes, simply retrying the operation can resolve transient issues that may have caused the log to be empty.
