  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message SCTS_HDI052 - HDI namespace &1&2 in container &3 too long for transport system ?

The SAP error message SCTS_HDI052 indicates that the HDI (HANA Deployment Infrastructure) namespace specified in the error is too long for the transport system. This typically occurs when the namespace exceeds the maximum length allowed by the transport system, which can lead to issues when trying to transport HDI containers or related objects.

    Cause:

The error is caused by the HDI namespace being longer than the allowed limit. In SAP HANA, namespaces are used to organize and manage database objects, and they have specific length restrictions. If the combined length of the namespace and the container name exceeds the maximum allowed length, this error will be triggered.

    Solution:

To resolve this issue, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Namespace Length: Verify the length of the HDI namespace and the container name. The maximum length for namespaces in SAP HANA is typically 30 characters, but you should confirm the specific limits for your version and configuration.

    2. Shorten Namespace: If the namespace is too long, consider shortening it. This may involve renaming the HDI container or adjusting the namespace structure to fit within the allowed limits.

    3. Review Transport Configuration: Ensure that your transport configuration is set up correctly and that it adheres to the naming conventions and length restrictions defined by SAP.

    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to the official SAP documentation for guidelines on HDI namespaces and transport system limitations. This can provide additional context and best practices.

    5. Test Changes: After making adjustments, test the transport process again to ensure that the error is resolved.
