  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

BC Set &V1& contains data records with generic deletions, for which
there are several duplicate data records in the BC Set, because of the
    generic key.
Example 1:The BC Set contains a data record with the key 'ABC*', and a
data record with the key 'A*'. 'ABC*' is part of the key 'A*', and the
data record 'ABC*' is not required in the BC Set.
Example 2: The BC Set contains a data record with the key 'ABCD' twice.
This can happen if the BC Set is filled first with the generic key 'A*',
and then with the key 'ABC*'. One of the duplicate data records (with
the key 'ABCD'), can be removed from the BC Set.

    System Response

The BC Set contains redundant information. The redundant data records
are removed automatically in the change mode of the BC Set maintenance
transaction, to avoid display and update problems. Redundant data should
not cause problems in other BC Set transactions (e.g. BC Set
    activation).

    You can continue processing.

    Procedure for System Administrators

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message SCPR659 - BC Set &1 contains &2 redundant data records because of gen. keys ?

The SAP error message SCPR659 indicates that there are redundant data records in a Business Configuration Set (BC Set) due to the presence of generic keys. This typically occurs when the system detects that multiple entries in the BC Set are essentially duplicates because they share the same key values, which can lead to confusion or errors during data processing.

    Cause:

    1. Redundant Entries: The BC Set contains multiple entries that have the same key values, which means they are not unique.
    2. Generic Keys: The use of generic keys in the configuration can lead to situations where different records are treated as equivalent, causing redundancy.
    3. Data Migration or Configuration Errors: This can happen during data migration or when manually configuring settings, leading to unintentional duplication.

    Solution:

    1. Review the BC Set: Check the entries in the BC Set to identify the redundant records. You can do this by analyzing the key fields and their values.
    2. Remove Duplicates: Once you identify the redundant records, you can either delete the duplicates or modify them to ensure that each entry is unique.
    3. Adjust Generic Keys: If the use of generic keys is causing the issue, consider adjusting the configuration to use more specific keys that will prevent redundancy.
    4. Recreate the BC Set: In some cases, it may be easier to recreate the BC Set from scratch, ensuring that no duplicate entries are included.
    5. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or notes related to BC Sets and generic keys for additional guidance on best practices and troubleshooting steps.

    Related Information:

    • BC Sets: Business Configuration Sets are used in SAP to transport configuration settings between systems. They help in managing and deploying configuration data efficiently.
    • Generic Keys: These are keys that can match multiple records, which can be useful in some scenarios but may lead to redundancy if not managed properly.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that might address this specific error or provide additional context on handling BC Sets and generic keys.

If the issue persists after following these steps, it may be beneficial to reach out to SAP support or consult with a technical expert who specializes in SAP configuration and data management.
