  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message SBD_MESSAGES323 - Display/maintenance allowed with restrictions ?

The SAP error message SBD_MESSAGES323 indicates that display or maintenance of certain data is allowed, but with restrictions. This typically occurs in the context of SAP Business Partner (BP) or similar modules where certain data elements are protected or restricted based on user roles, authorizations, or specific business rules.

    Cause:

    1. Authorization Issues: The user may not have the necessary authorizations to perform certain actions on the data. This can be due to missing roles or permissions in the user's profile.
    2. Data Restrictions: The data being accessed may have specific restrictions set by the business rules or configuration settings in SAP. For example, certain fields may be read-only based on the status of the business partner or other related entities.
    3. Configuration Settings: The system may be configured to allow display but restrict maintenance for certain types of data or under certain conditions.

    Solution:

    1. Check User Authorizations:

      • If the data is in a locked or restricted state, consult with the relevant business process owner to understand the reason for the restriction.
    3. Consult Configuration Settings:

      • If you have access to configuration settings, review the settings related to the business partner or the specific module in question. This may involve checking transaction codes like BP for business partner settings or other relevant configuration transactions.
      • If necessary, consult with your SAP Basis or configuration team to understand if any changes are needed.
