  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message SADA023 - Administrative action is already locked by user &1 ?

The SAP error message SADA023 indicates that an administrative action is currently locked by another user. This typically occurs in scenarios where multiple users are trying to perform the same administrative task simultaneously, leading to a lock on the action to prevent data inconsistencies.

    Cause:

    1. Concurrent Access: Another user is currently executing the same administrative action, which locks the process for others.
    2. Session Timeout: A previous session may not have been properly closed, leaving the action locked.
    3. System Configuration: Certain configurations in the SAP system may lead to locks being held longer than necessary.

    Solution:

    1. Wait and Retry: If another user is performing the action, wait for them to complete their task and then try again.
    2. Identify the Locking User: Use transaction code SM12 to check for locks. You can see which user is holding the lock and what action they are performing.
      • Go to transaction SM12.
      • Enter the relevant user ID and execute the search.
      • If necessary, you can ask the user to release the lock or wait for them to finish.
    3. Release the Lock: If you have the necessary authorizations, you can manually delete the lock entry in SM12. However, this should be done with caution, as it may lead to data inconsistencies if the other user is still working on the action.
    4. Check for Long-Running Transactions: If the lock persists, investigate if there are any long-running transactions that may be causing the lock to remain active.
    5. System Configuration Review: If this issue occurs frequently, consider reviewing the system configuration or consulting with your SAP Basis team to optimize locking mechanisms.

    Related Information:
