hierarchy/portfolio hierarchy node, risk hierarchy/risk hierarchy node
and the number of simulation runs (especially profits and losses per
simulation run) are too big. (Number of portfolio nodes = &v2&, number
of risk hierarchy nodes = &v1& and number of simulation runs = &v3&).
The VaR is correctly calculated but profits and losses per simulation
run are not displayed.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

RY361
- Profitability segments are too big. P&L output is being suppressed. ?The SAP error message RY361, which states "Profitability segments are too big. P&L output is being suppressed," typically occurs in the context of Profitability Analysis (CO-PA) when the system encounters issues with the size of the profitability segments being processed. This can happen when the data being analyzed exceeds the limits set for profitability segments, leading to the suppression of Profit and Loss (P&L) output.
Causes:
- Excessive Data Volume: The profitability segments may contain too many records or data points, exceeding the system's capacity to process them efficiently.
- Configuration Limits: The system may have configuration settings that limit the size of profitability segments, and the current data exceeds these limits.
- Data Aggregation Issues: If the data is not aggregated properly, it can lead to larger-than-expected profitability segments.
- Performance Issues: High data volume can lead to performance issues, causing the system to suppress output to maintain performance.
Solutions:
Review and Adjust Configuration:
- Check the configuration settings for profitability analysis in your SAP system. You may need to adjust the limits for profitability segments if they are set too low.
- Consult with your SAP Basis or CO-PA configuration team to ensure that the settings are appropriate for your data volume.
Data Aggregation:
- Ensure that data is being aggregated correctly before being processed. This can help reduce the size of the profitability segments.
- Use appropriate selection criteria to limit the data being processed in a single run.
Data Archiving:
- If the volume of historical data is too large, consider archiving old data that is no longer needed for current analysis. This can help reduce the overall data volume and improve performance.
Batch Processing:
- If possible, break down the data processing into smaller batches. This can help manage the size of the profitability segments and prevent the system from suppressing output.
Performance Tuning:
- Work with your SAP Basis team to analyze system performance and identify any bottlenecks. Performance tuning may help in handling larger data volumes more effectively.
Consult SAP Notes:
- Check the SAP Support Portal for any relevant SAP Notes or updates that may address this specific error message. There may be patches or recommendations provided by SAP.
