RT274
- CCMS self-monitoring: Space problems in shared memory monitoring segment ?The SAP error message RT274 indicates that there are space problems in the shared memory monitoring segment, which is part of the CCMS (Computing Center Management System) self-monitoring functionality. This error typically arises when the shared memory segment allocated for monitoring purposes is insufficient to handle the current workload or configuration.
Cause:
- Insufficient Memory Allocation: The shared memory segment for CCMS monitoring may not have enough space allocated to accommodate the current monitoring requirements.
- High Load: An increase in the number of monitored objects or a high volume of data being processed can lead to memory exhaustion.
- Configuration Issues: Incorrect configuration settings for the monitoring parameters can lead to excessive memory usage.
- Memory Leaks: There may be memory leaks in the application or monitoring processes that consume more memory over time.
Solution:
Increase Shared Memory Size:
- You can increase the size of the shared memory segment by adjusting the parameters in the instance profile. Look for parameters like
rdisp/shm_size
and increase its value.- After making changes, restart the SAP instance for the new settings to take effect.
Review Monitoring Configuration:
- Check the configuration of the CCMS monitoring settings. Reduce the number of monitored objects if possible or adjust the monitoring frequency to lower the memory load.
Check for Memory Leaks:
- Monitor the system for any potential memory leaks. Use transaction codes like ST02 (Tune Summary) and ST04 (Database Performance) to analyze memory usage and identify any abnormal patterns.
System Performance Tuning:
- Optimize the overall performance of the SAP system. This may include tuning database parameters, adjusting workload distribution, and ensuring that the system has adequate resources (CPU, RAM).
Consult SAP Notes:
- Check the SAP Support Portal for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional guidance on memory management.
