Message class: RT - Monitoring infrastructure MSG and alert texts
Message number: 199
Message text: Minimum number of calls with status SYSFAIL
Here, you see the number of tRFC calls which could not be carried out
because of an error in executing the call in the destination system or
external component.
You can display detailed information on calls that have execution errors
with the analysis method of this MTE. You will also find detailed
information in the ALE monitoring tree on SYSFAIL calls that were
generated by ALE.
This MTE does not monitor outbound qRFC calls in SYSFAIL status.
Instead, you will find monitoring of the status of the queues to which
qRFC calls belong elsewhere in the alert monitor.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Normally, you should see few or no calls with execution errors.
Because this status indicates a programming error and because these
problems require individual attention, accumulations of calls with
SYSFAIL errors carry the alert criticality red.
'SYSFAIL' calls are held without being retried. The execution problem
must be resolved before such a call can be retried. The call can then
either manually restarted (in the analysis method or in transaction
SM59) or deleted and re-issued by the calling application. Before
deleting such a call, be sure to print out the specifications and data
made in the call. The application will need this data in order to
re-construct the call. You should always check with the owner of a
SYSFAIL call before deleting or re-trying the call.
Once successfully processed, calls with SYSFAIL errors are automatically
deleted from the tRFC work queue, and will no longer appear in this
monitor.

- Minimum number of calls with status SYSFAIL ?The SAP error message RT199, which states "Minimum number of calls with status SYSFAIL," typically indicates that there is an issue with the system's ability to process certain calls or transactions, leading to a failure in the system's response. This error is often related to the SAP system's communication with external systems or services, such as during remote function calls (RFC) or when interfacing with other applications.
Causes:
- Network Issues: Problems with network connectivity can lead to failures in communication between SAP and external systems.
- Configuration Errors: Incorrect configuration settings in the SAP system or in the external systems can lead to failures.
- System Overload: High system load or resource constraints can cause the system to fail to process requests.
- Authorization Issues: Lack of proper authorizations for the user or system trying to make the call can result in failures.
- Service Availability: The external service or system being called may be down or unavailable.
Solutions:
- Check Network Connectivity: Ensure that there are no network issues affecting communication between SAP and external systems. Use tools like ping or traceroute to diagnose connectivity.
- Review Configuration Settings: Verify that all relevant configuration settings in both SAP and the external systems are correct. This includes checking RFC destinations, logical systems, and any relevant parameters.
- Monitor System Performance: Check system performance metrics to identify any resource bottlenecks. If the system is overloaded, consider optimizing performance or scaling resources.
- Check Authorizations: Ensure that the user or system making the call has the necessary authorizations to perform the action. Review user roles and permissions.
- Service Status: Verify the status of the external service or system being called. If it is down, coordinate with the relevant teams to restore service.
- Review Logs: Check the SAP application logs (transaction SLG1) and system logs (transaction SM21) for more detailed error messages that can provide additional context on the failure.
