Message text: &1 &3 > &2 &3 Utilized area of host spool request list exceeds threshold
The cache must contain at least as many entries as the number of
requests that have not yet been reported as completed that exist in a
spool server.
If this cache overflows, the spool service can no longer query the
status of additional requests that are transferred to the host spool
system. In order to avoid a malfunction, these requests are reported as
complete after they have been successfully transferred to the host
spool system.
If this alert appears repeatedly, increase the cache size using the
profile parameter <ZH>rspo/global_shm/hostspool_list.</> The standard
setting is 10 times the size of the spool request queue. The minimum
value is 500.

RT175
- &1 &3 > &2 &3 Utilized area of host spool request list exceeds threshold ?The SAP error message RT175 indicates that the utilized area of the host spool request list has exceeded a predefined threshold. This typically occurs when the spool system is unable to handle the volume of spool requests being generated, which can lead to performance issues or failures in printing or output processing.
Cause:
- High Volume of Spool Requests: A large number of spool requests being generated can fill up the spool area quickly.
- Configuration Limits: The threshold for the spool request list may be set too low in the system configuration.
- System Resource Limitations: Insufficient memory or disk space allocated for spool processing can lead to this error.
- Spool Request Cleanup: If old or unnecessary spool requests are not being deleted, they can accumulate and exceed the threshold.
Solution:
- Increase Threshold: Adjust the configuration settings for the spool request list threshold. This can be done in transaction SPAD (Spool Administration) by navigating to the relevant settings and increasing the limits.
- Delete Old Spool Requests: Regularly clean up old or unnecessary spool requests. You can do this in transaction SP01 (Spool Request Management) by selecting and deleting old spool requests.
- Monitor Spool Usage: Use transaction SP01 to monitor the current spool requests and their statuses. This can help identify if there are any stuck or problematic requests.
- Check System Resources: Ensure that the system has adequate resources (memory, disk space) allocated for spool processing. You may need to work with your system administrator to assess and adjust these resources.
- Schedule Regular Cleanup Jobs: Consider scheduling background jobs to regularly clean up old spool requests to prevent future occurrences of this error.
