Message type: E = Error
Message class: RSUQ - SAP Query Connection for BW
Message number: 138
Message text: Text fields in InfoSets restrict performance
The InfoSet used by the extractor contains text fields generated by the
system. Filling these text fields during runtime is resource-intensive.
Therefore, it is advisable to remove the automatically generated text
fields from the InfoSet, especially when loading large amounts of data.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Automatically generated text fields are marked with a 'T' on the icon
in the InfoSet. You can remove the automatically generated text fields
from the InfoSet in the initial screen of the InfoSet maintenance under
Further Functions -> Delete Text Fields. Cancel the DataSource creation
on the next screen and delete the text fields in the InfoSet
maintenance transaction.
If you cannot do this (since the fields are already in use), copy the
InfoSet, delete the text fields from the copy and create the extractor
again using the copy.

RSUQ138
- Text fields in InfoSets restrict performance ?The SAP error message RSUQ138 indicates that text fields in InfoSets can negatively impact performance. This message typically arises when you are working with InfoSets in SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP ERP systems, particularly when you are trying to execute queries or reports that involve InfoSets containing text fields.
Cause:
The primary cause of this error is the inclusion of text fields in the InfoSet definition. Text fields can be large and may require significant processing time when queries are executed, leading to performance degradation. When these fields are included in the InfoSet, they can slow down data retrieval and processing, especially if the InfoSet is used in reports or queries that involve large datasets.
Solution:
To resolve the RSUQ138 error and improve performance, consider the following solutions:
Remove Text Fields: If possible, remove text fields from the InfoSet. Evaluate whether these fields are necessary for your reporting needs. If they are not essential, excluding them can significantly enhance performance.
Use Key Fields: Instead of using text fields, try to use key fields or numeric fields that are more efficient for processing. This can help in optimizing the performance of the InfoSet.
Create Separate InfoSets: If text fields are necessary for certain reports, consider creating separate InfoSets that include text fields only for those specific reports. This way, you can keep the main InfoSet optimized for performance.
Optimize Queries: Review the queries that utilize the InfoSet. Ensure that they are optimized and do not unnecessarily pull in large amounts of data, especially if text fields are involved.
Indexing: If you must use text fields, consider indexing them if applicable. This can help speed up data retrieval times.
Performance Analysis: Use SAP's performance analysis tools (like ST05 or the Query Monitor) to identify bottlenecks in your queries and InfoSets. This can provide insights into how to further optimize performance.
