Message type: E = Error
Message class: RSTRAN - Messages for Transformation
Message number: 569
Message text: Rule (target field: &2 group: &3): Selected source field not possible
The selected source field cannot be used as there is a different
distribution rule, in which a different source field (&V4&) has been
chosen. As the selected source field has a rougher granularity than the
target field &V2&, the system tries to apply a time distribution. The
source field must be identical for all time distributions in the group.
An error message appears and the transformation cannot be activated.
Check the rule and select a different source field.

RSTRAN569
- Rule (target field: &2 group: &3): Selected source field not possible ?The SAP error message RSTRAN569 indicates that there is an issue with the data transfer rules in the SAP system, specifically related to the mapping of source fields to target fields in a data transfer process (such as in SAP BW or SAP Data Warehousing). The message typically means that the selected source field cannot be used for the specified target field due to a mismatch in data types, incompatible characteristics, or other configuration issues.
Cause:
- Data Type Mismatch: The source field may have a different data type than the target field, making it impossible to map them directly.
- Incompatible Characteristics: The source field may not be compatible with the target field due to the characteristics defined in the data model.
- Missing Source Field: The source field may not be available in the data source or may not be included in the data extraction.
- Incorrect Transformation Rules: The transformation rules defined in the data transfer process may not correctly specify how to map the source fields to the target fields.
- Field Length Issues: The length of the source field may exceed the length defined for the target field.
Solution:
- Check Data Types: Verify that the data types of the source and target fields are compatible. If they are not, you may need to adjust the data types in the transformation rules.
- Review Transformation Rules: Go to the transformation rules in the SAP BW system and check the mapping for the specific target field. Ensure that the source field is correctly defined and that the mapping is valid.
- Validate Source Fields: Ensure that the source field is available in the data source and is included in the extraction process. You may need to adjust the data source or the extraction logic.
- Adjust Field Lengths: If there are field length issues, consider adjusting the lengths of the fields in the target structure or modifying the source data to fit the target requirements.
- Test the Transformation: After making changes, test the transformation to ensure that the error is resolved and that data is being transferred correctly.
