  • Show details Hide details
  • Description
This test checks whether the used time characteristics of the InfoProvid
er are consistent with one another. The consistency of time
characteristics is particularly important for non-cumulative InfoCubes
    and partitioned InfoProviders.
InfoProvider values that do not match produce incorrect results for non-
cumulative InfoCubes and InfoProviders that are partitioned according to
    time characteristics.
For InfoProviders that are partitioned according to time characteristics
, restrictions on time characteristics are used to derive conditions for
    the partitioning characteristic.
    Errors
If errors occur, the InfoProvider is flagged as a provider with inconsis
tent time. This results in the following:
The derivation of conditions for partitioning criteria is deactivated as
a result of the non-matching time characteristics. This generally has a
    negative impact on performance.
If the InfoCube contains non-cumulatives, every time a query is executed
, the system displays a warning indicating that the data displayed may
    be incorrect.
    Repair Options for InfoCubes
    Caution
If the InfoCube does not contain non-cumulatives and is not partitioned,
    no action is required.
If the InfoCube is partitioned, action is only required if the read perf
    ormance significantly deteriorates.
It is not possible to automatically repair the entries in the time dimen
sion table. However, it is possible to delete entries from the time
dimension table that are no longer used.
In the case of incorrect dimension table entries, the system displays wh
ether they are still used in the fact table.
If the entries are no longer used, it is possible to repair this automat
ically. Any time dimension entries that are no longer used are removed.
Once the repair is complete, the system checks again whether the time di
mension is correct. If the time dimension is now correct, the InfoCube
is flagged as an InfoCube with correct time dimension.
If the entries are still used, use transaction LISTCUBE to check which d
ata packages are affected. If required, you can delete the data
packages, use the repair to remove the time dimension entries that are
no longer used, and reload the deleted data packages. You must then
    rebuild the InfoCube.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSTIME001 - Consistency of time characteristics for InfoProvider &1 ?

The SAP error message RSTIME001 indicates a consistency issue with time characteristics in an InfoProvider. This error typically arises when there is a mismatch or inconsistency in the time-related data, such as time characteristics (like fiscal year, period, etc.) between the InfoProvider and the data being processed.

    Cause:

    1. Inconsistent Time Characteristics: The time characteristics in the InfoProvider do not match the expected values or formats. This can happen if there are changes in the time dimension or if the data source has been modified.
    2. Data Load Issues: If there are issues during data loading, such as missing or incorrect time-related data, it can lead to this error.
    3. Configuration Changes: Changes in the configuration of the InfoProvider or the underlying data model can lead to inconsistencies.
    4. Data Source Mismatch: If the data source from which the InfoProvider is pulling data has been altered or is not aligned with the InfoProvider's expectations.

    Solution:

    1. Check Time Characteristics: Review the time characteristics defined in the InfoProvider and ensure they are consistent with the data being loaded. This includes checking fiscal year variants, periods, and any other time-related attributes.
    2. Data Consistency Check: Perform a consistency check on the data in the InfoProvider. You can use transaction codes like RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench) to analyze the InfoProvider and check for inconsistencies.
    3. Reprocess Data: If the issue is due to a failed data load, reprocess the data load to ensure that all records are correctly loaded with the appropriate time characteristics.
    4. Review Configuration: If there have been recent changes to the InfoProvider or the data model, review those changes to ensure they are correctly implemented and do not introduce inconsistencies.
    5. Check for Missing Data: Ensure that there are no missing time-related records in the data source that could lead to this error.
