  • Message class: RSRV -

  • Message number: 160

  • Message text: Hierarchy Node Text References for Characteristic &1

  • Show details Hide details
  • Description:
The interrelation between the (negative) SIDs of the hierarchy nodes of
all hierarchies of the characteristic and the node names are encoded in
the <AB>K</> table for a characteristic. The <AB>SID</> characteristic
values are also stored in the <AB>OSID</> field for characteristic
nodes, that is, hierarchy nodes, whose node name is the characteristic
    value of a different characteristic.
The system uses the <AB>K</> table when texts for hierarchy nodes need
to be displayed. A query may crash if there are missing entries in the
<AB>K</>, table or if non-existant SIDs appear in the OSID field.
    Repairs:
The <AB>K</> table can be repaired in the repair mode.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSRV160 - Hierarchy Node Text References for Characteristic &1 ?

The SAP error message RSRV160, which indicates "Hierarchy Node Text References for Characteristic &1," typically arises in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) when there are issues related to the hierarchy node texts for a specific characteristic. This error can occur during the execution of certain transactions or reports that involve hierarchies.

    Cause:

The error is generally caused by one of the following issues:

    1. Missing Texts: The hierarchy nodes for the specified characteristic do not have corresponding text entries in the text table.
    2. Inconsistent Data: There may be inconsistencies in the hierarchy data, such as missing or incorrect references.
    3. Data Activation Issues: The data might not have been activated properly, leading to missing hierarchy texts.
    4. Transport Issues: If the hierarchy was transported from one system to another, there might be missing objects or dependencies.

    Solution:

To resolve the RSRV160 error, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check Hierarchy Texts:

      • Go to the transaction code RSH1 (Hierarchy Maintenance) and check if the hierarchy node texts for the characteristic in question are correctly maintained.
      • Ensure that all nodes have corresponding text entries.
    2. Use Transaction RSRV:

      • Execute transaction RSRV (Data Consistency Check) and run the check for the specific characteristic. This will help identify any inconsistencies in the hierarchy.
      • If inconsistencies are found, follow the recommendations provided by the system to correct them.
    3. Activate Data:

      • If the hierarchy data has not been activated, you can activate it using transaction RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench) or by using the relevant data activation process.
    4. Transport Check:

      • If the hierarchy was recently transported, ensure that all related objects (including texts) were transported correctly. You may need to re-transport missing objects.
    5. Recreate Hierarchy:

      • If the issue persists, consider recreating the hierarchy from scratch, ensuring that all nodes and texts are correctly defined.
    6. Consult Documentation:

      • Refer to SAP Notes or documentation related to the specific version of SAP BW you are using for any known issues or additional troubleshooting steps.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: RSH1 (Hierarchy Maintenance), RSRV (Data Consistency Check), RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench).
