  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The permitted number of &v2& data packages in a delta request or
repeated delta request has been exceeded.

    System Response

The current extraction is limited to &v1& data packages.

    How to fix this error?

It is highly probable that there is still data in the delta queue.
Request another delta request from SAP BW to load all the data in the
    delta queue to SAP BW.
The limit should normally only be set for more than 1000 data packages.
You can make settings across the board for all DataSources of a source
system in Customizing for the extractors in the source system
(transaction SBIW) under activity <DS:SIMG.BIW5>Maintain Control
Parameters for Data Transfer</>. You can overwrite this setting in SAP
BW individually for each delta connection in the respective InfoPackage.

    Procedure for System Administrators

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSQU042 - Delta extraction limited to &1 data packages ?

The SAP error message RSQU042 indicates that the delta extraction process is limited to a certain number of data packages, specifically &1, which is a placeholder for the maximum number of data packages allowed. This error typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) when extracting data from a source system, such as an SAP ERP system.

    Cause:

The error can be caused by several factors, including:

    1. Configuration Limits: The delta extraction process may be configured to limit the number of data packages that can be processed in a single extraction run. This is often done to manage performance and resource utilization.

    2. Data Volume: If the volume of data being extracted exceeds the configured limits, the extraction process may be restricted to the maximum number of data packages.

    3. System Performance: High system load or performance issues can also lead to limitations in the number of data packages that can be processed.

    4. Delta Queue Issues: If there are issues with the delta queue in the source system, it may affect the ability to extract data properly.

    Solution:

To resolve the RSQU042 error, you can consider the following solutions:

    1. Adjust Configuration: Check the configuration settings for the delta extraction process. You may need to increase the limit on the number of data packages that can be processed. This can typically be done in the DataSource settings in the SAP BW system.

    2. Monitor Data Volume: Analyze the volume of data being extracted. If it is consistently high, consider breaking it down into smaller batches or adjusting the extraction strategy.

    3. Check System Performance: Monitor the performance of both the source and target systems. If there are performance bottlenecks, address them to improve the overall extraction process.

    4. Review Delta Queue: Investigate the delta queue in the source system for any issues. Ensure that it is functioning correctly and that there are no stuck or failed delta records.

    5. Run Extraction in Smaller Batches: If possible, run the extraction in smaller batches to avoid hitting the limit on data packages.

    6. Consult SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may provide additional guidance or patches related to this error.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: You may use transaction codes like RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench) and RSMO (Monitor Data Transfer) to monitor and manage data extraction processes.
    • SAP BW Documentation: Refer to the official SAP BW documentation for detailed information on delta extraction and configuration settings.
    • Performance Tuning: Consider performance tuning techniques for both the source and target systems to optimize data extraction processes.

If the issue persists after trying the above solutions, it may be beneficial to consult with your SAP Basis or BW team for further investigation and support.
