Message text: Ambiguities cannot be resolved without the analytic engine
The InfoProvider contains nested ambiguous joins that cannot be
completely resolved in queries without the analytic engine (OLAP).
This situation occurs if an InfoProvider in linked in multiple
directions, and the join fields for the several joins are not identical.
The InfoProvider can still be activated and used however. Where queries
are made without the analytic engine (using list cubes, or the external
data manager interface RSDRI for example) ambiguities can occur, despite
the local aggregation.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

RSQBW143
- Ambiguities cannot be resolved without the analytic engine ?The SAP error message RSQBW143, which states "Ambiguities cannot be resolved without the analytic engine," typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) when there are issues related to the data model or queries that cannot be processed correctly due to ambiguities in the data structure.
Cause:
- Ambiguous Joins: The error often arises when there are multiple paths to the same data in the data model, leading to ambiguity in how the data should be aggregated or calculated.
- Missing Analytic Engine: The analytic engine is required to resolve these ambiguities, and if it is not available or not functioning correctly, the system cannot process the query.
- Incorrect Query Design: The query may be designed in a way that does not clearly define how to handle certain dimensions or measures, leading to conflicts in the data retrieval process.
Solution:
- Check Data Model: Review the data model for any ambiguous joins or relationships. Ensure that there are clear paths for data retrieval without multiple conflicting routes.
- Use Analytic Engine: If the analytic engine is not available, ensure that it is properly configured and running. This may involve checking system settings or consulting with your SAP Basis team.
- Refine Query Design: Modify the query to eliminate ambiguities. This may involve:
- Specifying filters or conditions that clarify which data should be retrieved.
- Adjusting the structure of the query to avoid conflicts between dimensions and measures.
- Test Queries: After making changes, test the queries to ensure that they run without errors and return the expected results.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or support resources for specific guidance on resolving ambiguities in your particular version of SAP BW.
