Message type: E = Error
Message class: RSPLS_CR - Messages on Characteristic Relationships/Data Slices
Message number: 084
Message text: Derivation from data field &1 to key field &2 is not allowed
The derivation relation modeled in step &V3& uses characteristic &V1& in
the data part and characteristic &V2& in the key part of a DataStore
object. This is not allowed.
The derivation relation in step &V3& is inconsistent.
Adjust the derivation relation in step &V3& so that
all source and target fields are in the key part<(>,<)> or
all source and some target fields are in the key part<(>,<)> and the
rest of the target fields are in the data part.

RSPLS_CR084
- Derivation from data field &1 to key field &2 is not allowed ?The SAP error message RSPLS_CR084 indicates that there is an issue with the derivation of a data field to a key field in a query or a data model. This typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP HANA when you are trying to create or modify a query or data model that involves key figures and characteristics.
Cause:
The error message "Derivation from data field &1 to key field &2 is not allowed" usually arises due to one of the following reasons:
Incompatible Data Types: The data field you are trying to derive from may not be compatible with the key field. For example, if the data field is a text field and the key field is a numeric field, the derivation will fail.
Key Field Restrictions: Key fields have specific restrictions on how they can be derived. Certain fields may not allow derivation from other fields due to the way they are defined in the data model.
Incorrect Configuration: There may be an issue with the configuration of the InfoObject or the data model that prevents the derivation from being valid.
Missing or Incorrect Mapping: If the mapping between the data field and the key field is not correctly defined, it can lead to this error.
Solution:
To resolve the RSPLS_CR084 error, you can take the following steps:
Check Data Types: Verify that the data types of the data field and the key field are compatible. If they are not, you may need to change the data type of one of the fields or choose a different field for derivation.
Review Key Field Definition: Check the definition of the key field in the InfoObject or data model. Ensure that it allows derivation from the specified data field.
Adjust Derivation Logic: If you are using a transformation or a query, review the logic for deriving the key field. Make sure that the derivation is valid and follows the rules set by SAP.
Check for Missing Mappings: Ensure that all necessary mappings between the data field and the key field are correctly defined in the transformation or query.
Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidelines on derivation rules and restrictions for the fields you are working with.
Test Changes: After making adjustments, test the changes to ensure that the error is resolved and that the derivation works as expected.
