The SAP error message RSOSC053 indicates that there is an inconsistency with a compounded characteristic in an InfoObject. This typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP BI (Business Intelligence) when dealing with InfoObjects that are compounded, meaning they are dependent on other characteristics.

    Cause:

The inconsistency can arise due to several reasons:

    1. Missing Characteristics: One or more of the characteristics that the compounded characteristic depends on may not be defined or may have been deleted.
    2. Inconsistent Data: The data in the InfoObject may not align with the definitions of the compounded characteristic.
    3. Changes in Structure: If there have been recent changes to the structure of the InfoObjects or the underlying data model, it may lead to inconsistencies.

    Solution:

To resolve the RSOSC053 error, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check the Definition: Go to the InfoObject maintenance transaction (e.g., RSA1) and check the definition of the compounded characteristic. Ensure that all the underlying characteristics are correctly defined and active.

    2. Validate Characteristics: Ensure that all characteristics that are part of the compounded characteristic are available and have not been deleted or deactivated.

    3. Rebuild the Compounded Characteristic: If the compounded characteristic is still inconsistent, consider deleting and recreating it. Make sure to carefully re-add the necessary characteristics.

    4. Check Data Consistency: Run consistency checks on the data in the InfoObject to ensure that there are no discrepancies. You can use transaction RSRV to perform consistency checks.

    5. Transport Issues: If the issue arose after a transport, check the transport logs for any errors or warnings related to the InfoObject. Ensure that all dependent objects were transported correctly.

    6. Activate the InfoObject: Sometimes, simply reactivating the InfoObject can resolve the issue. Go to the InfoObject maintenance and activate it again.

    7. Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or notes related to the specific version of SAP BW you are using, as there may be known issues or patches available.
