Message class: RSODP - Operational Data Provider: Messages
Message number: 062
Message text: Basic chars. for fields &1 (ODP &4) and field &2 (ODP &3) do not match
If a field has an association to a master data ODP, the basic
characteristic is derived from this association. If no association exi
sts, the basic characteristic is derived from the ODP field name and
various technical information.
The field &V1& from ODP &V4& is contained in the join of an association
to ODP &V3&. Field &V1& (ODP &V4&) is linked to field &V2& (ODP &V3&).
Therefore, the derived characteristic names must be identical to these
two fields.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Check whether these two fields have an association to the same master
data ODP. If neither of the fields has an association, then the
technical properties must match. You need to assign the same ODP field
name for both fields.

RSODP062
- Basic chars. for fields &1 (ODP &4) and field &2 (ODP &3) do not match ?The SAP error message RSODP062 indicates a mismatch in the basic characteristics of fields in the context of Operational Data Provisioning (ODP). This typically occurs when there are inconsistencies between the data structures defined in the source system and those expected in the target system or when there are discrepancies in the data model.
Cause:
- Field Mismatch: The error arises when the characteristics (data types, lengths, etc.) of the fields in the source ODP data source do not match those defined in the target ODP data source.
- Data Source Configuration: Changes in the data source configuration in the source system that have not been reflected in the target system.
- Transport Issues: If the data source was transported from one system to another, there may have been issues during the transport process that led to inconsistencies.
- Version Differences: Different versions of the data source in the source and target systems can lead to mismatches.
Solution:
- Check Data Source Definitions: Verify the definitions of the data sources in both the source and target systems. Ensure that the field characteristics (data types, lengths, etc.) match.
- Adjust Data Source: If there are discrepancies, you may need to adjust the data source in either the source or target system to ensure they are aligned.
- Recreate Data Source: In some cases, it may be easier to recreate the data source in the target system based on the correct definition from the source system.
- Transport Corrections: If the issue arose from a transport, check the transport logs for errors and correct any issues found.
- Check for Updates: Ensure that both systems are updated to the same version of the data source, as version differences can lead to mismatches.
