Message number: 166
Message text: More data transfer processes exist; see long text
The system tries to reuse data transfer processes during the model gener
ation. If there are several data transfer processes between the source
&V1& and the target &V2& then only the first data transfer process is
proposed for reuse.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

RSOBI_MF166
- More data transfer processes exist; see long text ?The SAP error message RSOBI_MF166 indicates that there are more data transfer processes (DTPs) running than the system can handle at one time. This can occur in scenarios where multiple data loads are being executed simultaneously, leading to resource contention or exceeding the configured limits for DTPs.
Cause:
- Exceeding DTP Limits: The system has a limit on the number of concurrent DTPs that can run. If this limit is exceeded, the error will occur.
- Long-running Processes: If some DTPs are taking longer than expected to complete, they can block new DTPs from starting.
- System Configuration: The configuration settings for the number of allowed parallel DTPs may be set too low for the current workload.
Solution:
- Check Running DTPs: Use transaction codes like
SM37
to monitor and check the status of currently running DTPs. Identify any long-running or stuck processes.- Terminate Unnecessary DTPs: If you find DTPs that are not progressing, consider terminating them to free up resources.
- Adjust DTP Settings: Review and adjust the settings for the maximum number of parallel DTPs in the system. This can be done in the Data Warehousing Workbench (transaction
RSA1
) under the DTP settings.- Optimize DTP Performance: Analyze the DTPs to see if they can be optimized for better performance, such as reducing the volume of data being processed in a single run or improving the underlying data model.
- Schedule DTPs: If possible, schedule DTPs to run at different times to avoid contention for resources.
