  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

All objects for transport target &V1&<(>&<)>V1<(>&<)> are already locked
in requests, but in different ones. The requests are listed below.

    System Response

In general there are dependencies between these objects. If the requests
are released in the wrong order and are imported into the target system,
there could be transport errors, for example because an InfoCube needs a
characteristic that will only arrive in the target system with another
    request.

    How to fix this error?

To avoid transport errors, go to the <DS:TRAN.SE09>Transport Organizer
    </>
and merge all these requests to a single request before releasing them.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSO864 - The edited objects with target &1 are locked on the following requests: ?

The SAP error message RSO864 indicates that there are edited objects (such as InfoObjects, InfoProviders, or queries) that are locked in the system for a specific target (denoted by &1) due to ongoing requests or processes. This typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) when you are trying to activate or transport objects that are currently locked by other users or processes.

    Cause:

    1. Active Requests: The objects you are trying to edit or activate are currently being processed by another user or a background job.
    2. Locking Mechanism: SAP uses a locking mechanism to prevent data inconsistencies. If an object is being edited or activated, it cannot be modified by another user until the lock is released.
    3. Transport Requests: If the objects are part of a transport request that is currently being processed, they will be locked until the transport is completed.

    Solution:

    1. Check Lock Entries: Use transaction code SM12 to check for lock entries related to the objects in question. You can filter by user or object name to identify who is holding the lock.
    2. Release Locks: If you find that a lock is held by a user who is no longer working on it, you can manually delete the lock entry (if you have the necessary authorizations). However, be cautious with this approach as it may lead to data inconsistencies.
    3. Wait for Completion: If the lock is due to a background job or a transport request, you may need to wait until the job is completed or the transport is finished.
    4. Communicate with Users: If the lock is held by another user, communicate with them to understand if they can release the lock or if they are still working on the object.
    5. Check for Long-Running Processes: Sometimes, long-running processes can hold locks for an extended period. You may need to investigate and resolve any performance issues.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes:
      • SM12: To view and manage lock entries.
      • SM37: To monitor background jobs and their statuses.
      • SE01 or SE09: To manage transport requests.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address specific issues related to locking mechanisms or known bugs.
    • Documentation: Review SAP documentation on locking mechanisms and best practices for managing object activations and transports in BW.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the RSO864 error and successfully activate or transport your objects.
