Message text: Deleting initializations affects DataStore objects
You want to delete executed initializations, registered in the delta
administration, from the delta administration.
If you delete initializations from the delta administration, only the
delta administration in BW and in the source system is reset. You can
then only request deltas again when you have reinitialized this
DataSource/source system combination.
Warning
When you delete the initialization from the delta administration, no
data is deleted from the system.
Important Note on DataStore Objects
If the delta process of your DataSource stipulates serialization, you
can no longer post this init request or any subsequently requested delta
requests to the DataStore objects that were filled previously, after you
have deleted the initialization and reinitialized. This is because old
inits and deltas still exist.
The DataStore object recognizes that new inits and deltas have been
created that are not yet posted in the DataStore object and requires
them to be updated. Otherwise the selections of the new inits overlap
with the selections of the old inits that are still in the DataStore
object, so that they cannot be posted.
The system does not activate the newly-loaded inits or deltas in the
DataStore object if the delta process of the DataSource stipulates
serialization.
After deleting the init administration, also delete the data that was
loaded with this init and the deltas that followed into the DataSource
objects from these DataSource objects, if the delta process of the
DataSource stipulates serialization.
Otherwise new inits or deltas cannot be activated in this DataStore
object.
(This is not checked when the inits or deltas are loaded to the
activation queue, but when they are activated).
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

RSM1608
- Deleting initializations affects DataStore objects ?The SAP error message RSM1608 indicates that there is an issue related to the deletion of initializations in the context of DataStore Objects (DSOs) in SAP BW (Business Warehouse). This error typically arises when you attempt to delete an initialization for a DSO that is still being used or has dependencies that need to be addressed.
Cause:
The error occurs due to the following reasons:
- Active Data: The DSO may contain active data that is still being used in reports or other processes.
- Initialization Dependencies: There may be other objects or processes that depend on the initialization you are trying to delete.
- Data Integrity: Deleting an initialization could compromise the integrity of the data in the DSO, leading to inconsistencies.
Solution:
To resolve the RSM1608 error, you can follow these steps:
Check Dependencies:
- Before deleting an initialization, check if there are any active processes, queries, or reports that depend on the DSO. You can use transaction codes like RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench) to analyze dependencies.
Deactivate or Remove Dependencies:
- If there are dependent objects, consider deactivating or removing them before attempting to delete the initialization.
Delete Initialization:
- Once you have ensured that there are no dependencies, you can proceed to delete the initialization. This can typically be done through the Data Warehousing Workbench or using the appropriate transaction code.
Reinitialize if Necessary:
- After deleting the initialization, if you need to refresh the data in the DSO, you may need to perform a new initialization.
Check for Active Requests:
- Ensure that there are no active data requests in the DSO. You can check this in the DSO monitor.
Consult Documentation:
- If you are unsure about the implications of deleting an initialization, consult the SAP documentation or reach out to your SAP BW administrator for guidance.
Related Information:
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the RSM1608 error and manage your DataStore Objects effectively.
