  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSM1147 - DataStore &1 built incorrectly; cannot update request &2(&3) ?

The SAP error message RSM1147 indicates that there is an issue with a DataStore Object (DSO) in the SAP BW (Business Warehouse) system. Specifically, it suggests that the DSO has been built incorrectly, which prevents the system from updating a particular request.

    Cause:

The error can occur due to several reasons, including:

    1. Inconsistent Data: The data in the DSO may be inconsistent or corrupted, which can happen due to failed data loads or issues during data processing.
    2. Incorrect DSO Configuration: The DSO may not be configured correctly, leading to issues in how data is stored or processed.
    3. Data Model Changes: Changes in the data model or structure of the DSO that have not been properly managed can lead to this error.
    4. Request Status: The request that is being updated may be in a status that does not allow for updates, such as being in a "failed" state.

    Solution:

To resolve the RSM1147 error, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check DSO Status: Verify the status of the DSO and the request that is causing the error. Ensure that the request is not in a failed state.
    2. Repair the DSO:
      • Use transaction code RSA1 to access the Data Warehousing Workbench.
      • Navigate to the DSO and check for any inconsistencies.
      • If necessary, you can use the "Repair" function to fix the DSO.
    3. Reprocess the Request: If the request is in a failed state, you may need to delete or reprocess it. You can do this in the "Manage" section of the DSO.
    4. Check for Data Load Errors: Review the data load logs to identify any errors that occurred during the data load process. Address any issues found in the logs.
    5. Rebuild the DSO: If the DSO is severely corrupted, you may need to consider rebuilding it. This involves creating a new DSO and migrating the data from the old one.
    6. Consult SAP Notes: Check the SAP Support Portal for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional troubleshooting steps.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench), RSMO (Monitor Data Loads), and RSPC (Process Chain Maintenance).
    • Data Load Monitoring: Regularly monitor data loads and requests to catch issues early.
    • Backup and Recovery: Ensure that you have a backup strategy in place for your DSOs to prevent data loss in case of corruption.
