  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSM1094 - No init. is green for DataSource &1 from source system &2 ?

The SAP error message RSM1094 indicates that there is no initialization that is in a "green" status for a specific DataSource from a source system. This typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) when trying to load data from a source system into the BW system.

    Cause:

    1. Initialization Not Completed: The most common cause of this error is that the initialization process for the DataSource has not been completed successfully. This means that the initial data load has not been performed or has failed.
    2. DataSource Configuration Issues: There may be issues with the configuration of the DataSource in the BW system or the source system.
    3. Data Transfer Issues: There could be problems with the data transfer process, such as connectivity issues between the source system and the BW system.
    4. DataSource Not Activated: The DataSource may not be activated in the BW system.
    5. Incorrect Source System: The source system specified may not be correct or may not be connected properly.

    Solution:

    1. Check Initialization Status: Go to the DataSource in the BW system and check the initialization status. You can do this in the RSA1 transaction under the "DataSources" section.
    2. Perform Initialization: If the initialization has not been done, you need to perform it. This can be done by:
      • Going to the DataSource in RSA1.
      • Right-clicking on the DataSource and selecting "Initialize" or "Manage".
      • Following the prompts to complete the initialization process.
    3. Check for Errors: If the initialization has been attempted but failed, check the logs for any errors that occurred during the process. You can find logs in the "Monitor" section of the Data Warehousing Workbench.
    4. Verify DataSource Configuration: Ensure that the DataSource is correctly configured in both the source system and the BW system. Check for any missing fields or incorrect settings.
    5. Activate DataSource: If the DataSource is not activated, activate it in the BW system.
    6. Check Connectivity: Ensure that there are no connectivity issues between the source system and the BW system. You can test the connection using transaction codes like SM59 (RFC destinations).
    7. Consult Documentation: If the issue persists, consult SAP documentation or support for further troubleshooting steps.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes:
      • RSA1: Data Warehousing Workbench
      • RSO2: DataSource Maintenance
      • SM59: RFC Destinations
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address specific issues related to your DataSource or initialization process.
    • Logs and Monitoring: Use transaction codes like RSMO (Data Load Monitor) to check the status of data loads and initialization processes.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the RSM1094 error and successfully initialize your DataSource for data loading in SAP BW.
