  • How to fix this error?

    Check carried out:
A successful initialization of the delta update has not yet taken place
and can be carried out at any time.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

Not until a delta initialization has been successfully processed (can
also be set to 'successful' by the pushbutton <LS>QM-Action</>) can a
delta request be transmitted to this system.
If you do not want to carry out a 'real' initialization, since this
would take too long, you can simulate the initialization for test
    purposes.
The BW system and the source system then behave as if an initialization
has been carried out, but no data is updated, yet it is possible to
carry out a delta load at any time afterwards.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSM683 - Check: No successful initialization of the delta update took place ?

The SAP error message RSM683 indicates that there was an issue with the initialization of the delta update in the SAP system. This error typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP BI (Business Intelligence) when the delta process is not able to start successfully. Here’s a breakdown of the cause, potential solutions, and related information:

    Cause

    1. Missing Initialization: The delta update process requires an initial load to be completed successfully before it can start processing delta records. If the initial load has not been performed or has failed, the delta update cannot be initialized.

    2. Data Source Issues: There may be issues with the data source from which the delta is being extracted. This could include problems with the source system, such as connectivity issues or incorrect configurations.

    3. Delta Queue Issues: The delta queue may be in an inconsistent state, which can prevent the delta update from being initialized.

    4. Incorrect Settings: Configuration settings for the data source or the InfoPackage may be incorrect, leading to initialization failures.

    5. Transport Issues: If there have been recent transports that affect the data source or related objects, they may not have been properly activated or may have introduced inconsistencies.

    Solutions

    1. Check Initial Load: Ensure that the initial load for the data source has been completed successfully. If it has not, perform the initial load again.

    2. Review Data Source Configuration: Verify the configuration of the data source in the SAP BW system. Ensure that it is set up correctly and that all necessary settings are in place.

    3. Check Delta Queue: Use transaction RSA7 to check the delta queue for the data source. If there are entries in the delta queue, you may need to process or clear them.

    4. Reinitialize Delta: If the delta initialization has failed, you may need to reinitialize the delta for the data source. This can be done through the DataSource maintenance transaction (RSA1) by selecting the data source and choosing the option to initialize the delta.

    5. Check for Errors in Source System: If the data source is connected to a source system, check for any errors or issues in that system that may be affecting the delta update.

    6. Review Logs: Check the logs for any additional error messages or warnings that may provide more context about the failure. You can use transaction SLG1 to view application logs.

    7. Transport Activation: If there have been recent transports, ensure that all objects have been activated properly in the target system.
