  • What causes this issue?

You still have empty or incorrect entries in the authorization
    definition.
It is not possible to save empty characteristic dimensions, that is,
characteristics without interval authorizations and without hierarchy
authorizations. In this case, either enter interval authorizations or
hierarchy authorizations into the empty characteristics or delete the
affected characteristic from the authorization completely.
Then you will be able to save the authorization.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSEC303 - There are empty or incorrect characteristic auth. Please correct ?

The SAP error message RSEC303 indicates that there are issues with characteristic authorizations in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP BI (Business Intelligence). This error typically arises when a user tries to access data for which they do not have the necessary authorizations, or when the authorization objects are not correctly defined.

    Cause:

    1. Missing Authorizations: The user does not have the required authorizations for certain characteristics in the InfoObject.
    2. Incorrectly Defined Authorizations: The authorization objects may be incorrectly defined or may contain empty fields.
    3. Changes in InfoObjects: If there have been recent changes to InfoObjects or characteristics, the existing authorizations may no longer be valid.
    4. Transport Issues: If authorizations were transported from one system to another, they may not have been correctly configured in the target system.

    Solution:

    1. Check User Authorizations:

      • Use transaction code SU53 to analyze the authorization check after the error occurs. This will show you which authorization failed.
      • Ensure that the user has the necessary roles assigned that include the required authorizations for the characteristics in question.
    2. Review Authorization Objects:

      • Go to transaction PFCG to review the roles assigned to the user. Check the authorization objects related to the InfoObjects and ensure they are correctly defined.
      • Make sure that all required fields in the authorization objects are filled in and not left empty.
    3. Adjust Authorizations:

      • If you find that certain characteristics are missing or incorrectly defined, you may need to adjust the authorizations in the role.
      • You can also create new roles or modify existing ones to include the necessary authorizations.
    4. Check InfoObject Settings:

      • Review the settings of the InfoObjects in transaction RSA1 to ensure that they are correctly configured and that there are no inconsistencies.
    5. Transport Issues:

      • If the issue arose after a transport, check the transport logs to ensure that all necessary objects were transported correctly.
      • You may need to re-transport the authorization objects or manually adjust them in the target system.
    6. Testing:

      • After making changes, test the authorization by logging in as the affected user and attempting to access the data again.
