  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The request&V1& was loaded into the PSA table of the DataSource when the
DataSource had a different structure to the current one. Incompatible
changes have been made to the DataSource since then and the request
cannot be extracted with the DTP anymore.

    System Response

The request is in PSA&V2&, version&V3&. The current PSA version is&V4&.
An extraction would lead to a short dump because of field
    incompatibilities.

    How to fix this error?

If you no longer require the data, you do not need to take any further
    action.
If you do still require the data, you can just extract it by creating a
generic DataSource in the Myself source system in PSA&V2&, version&V3&.
You can find the technical name of the PSA table in the table RSTSODS
with the specified PSA name and version. Convert the data using a
separate transformation into the new target format.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSDS198 - Request &1 not extracted; request is in obsolete version of DataSource ?

The SAP error message RSDS198 indicates that a request (data extraction request) is not being processed because it is in an obsolete version of the DataSource. This typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) when there are changes made to the DataSource or the underlying data model, which can render older requests incompatible.

    Cause:

    1. DataSource Changes: The DataSource has been modified (e.g., fields added, removed, or changed) after the request was created. This can happen during data model changes or when the DataSource is reactivated.
    2. Obsolete Requests: The request you are trying to extract data from is based on an older version of the DataSource that is no longer valid.
    3. DataSource Activation: If the DataSource was deactivated and then reactivated, older requests may not be compatible with the new version.

    Solution:

    1. Reprocess the Request: You can try to reprocess the request. This can be done by:

      • Deleting the obsolete request and re-running the data load to create a new request based on the current version of the DataSource.
      • If the request is part of a process chain, you may need to adjust the process chain to ensure it uses the latest version of the DataSource.
    2. Check DataSource Version: Verify the version of the DataSource in the Data Warehousing Workbench (transaction RSA1) and ensure that it is active and correctly configured.

    3. DataSource Activation: If the DataSource has been modified, ensure that it is activated properly. You can do this by:

      • Going to the DataSource in RSA1.
      • Right-clicking on the DataSource and selecting "Activate".
    4. Update InfoProvider: If the DataSource is linked to an InfoProvider, ensure that the InfoProvider is also updated to reflect the changes made to the DataSource.

    5. Check for Data Load Errors: Review the data load logs for any errors that may indicate issues with the DataSource or the data being loaded.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Use transaction codes like RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench), RSMO (Monitor Data Loads), and RSPC (Process Chain) to manage and monitor your data loads and DataSources.
    • SAP Notes: Check for relevant SAP Notes that may provide additional guidance or fixes related to this error.
    • Documentation: Review SAP documentation for best practices on managing DataSources and InfoProviders in BW.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the RSDS198 error and successfully extract data from the DataSource.
