Message type: E = Error
Message class: RSDD - Message class for data manager
Message number: 811
Message text: Aggregate &1: Char &2 has type 'UNI'
Problems with activation, transport and content transfer may mean that
characteristics and navigation attributes appear in the modified version
of an aggregate definition (M version) that should not be there. For
example, characteristics from the units and package dimension
(RequestID, ChangeID, ...) and navigation attributes with aggregation
status "%" - these are not automatically included until the aggregate is
activated. They ought to then appear in the A version of the aggregate
(that is, the active version). In aggregate maintenance (transaction
RSDDV), only the M version for an aggregate is displayed.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

RSDD811
- Aggregate &1: Char &2 has type 'UNI' ?The SAP error message RSDD811 indicates an issue related to the characteristics of an aggregate in the SAP BW (Business Warehouse) system. Specifically, the message states that a characteristic (Char &2) in the aggregate (Aggregate &1) has a type 'UNI' (which stands for "unit"), and this is causing a problem.
Cause:
- Characteristic Type: The characteristic in question is defined as a unit characteristic (UNI), which is typically used for measures that have a unit of measure associated with them (like currency, weight, etc.). Aggregates in SAP BW are not designed to handle unit characteristics in the same way they handle other types of characteristics.
- Incompatibility: The presence of a unit characteristic in an aggregate can lead to issues with data aggregation and reporting, as the system may not know how to properly aggregate data that includes units.
Solution:
- Review the Aggregate Definition: Check the definition of the aggregate in question. If the characteristic is not essential for the aggregate, consider removing it from the aggregate definition.
- Change Characteristic Type: If the characteristic is necessary, evaluate whether it can be changed to a different type that is compatible with aggregates. This may involve changing the data model or how the characteristic is used in reporting.
- Rebuild the Aggregate: After making changes, you may need to rebuild the aggregate to ensure that it is correctly defined without the incompatible characteristic.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or support for specific guidelines on handling unit characteristics in aggregates.
Related Information:
By addressing the characteristic type and ensuring compatibility with the aggregate, you should be able to resolve the RSDD811 error.
