  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSDD010 - Change run is running or has been terminated. No roll-up possible ?

The SAP error message RSDD010 indicates that a change run is currently in progress or has been terminated, which prevents a roll-up operation from being executed. This error typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) when you are trying to perform a roll-up on a DataStore Object (DSO) or InfoCube while a change run is still active or has not completed successfully.

    Causes:

    1. Active Change Run: A change run is currently processing data, and the system does not allow roll-ups until this process is completed.
    2. Terminated Change Run: A previous change run was terminated unexpectedly, leaving the system in a state where it cannot proceed with new operations until the issue is resolved.
    3. Locking Mechanism: SAP BW uses locking mechanisms to ensure data integrity during processing. If a change run is active, it locks the relevant objects, preventing other operations.

    Solutions:

    1. Check Active Change Runs:

      • Go to transaction RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench).
      • Navigate to the relevant InfoProvider (DSO or InfoCube) and check if there are any active change runs.
      • If a change run is active, wait for it to complete.
    2. Terminate or Restart Change Run:

      • If a change run has been terminated and is stuck, you may need to manually terminate it.
      • Use transaction SM37 to check for background jobs related to the change run. Look for jobs with a status of "Canceled" or "Running."
      • If necessary, you can delete or restart the job from this transaction.
    3. Check for Locks:

      • Use transaction SM12 to check for any locks on the relevant objects. If you find locks that are no longer needed, you can delete them.
      • Ensure that no other users or processes are holding locks on the objects you are trying to roll up.
    4. System Monitoring:

      • Monitor the system for any long-running processes that may be causing delays. You can use transaction SM66 to view all active processes in the system.
    5. Consult Logs:

      • Check the logs for the change run to identify any errors that may have caused it to terminate. This can provide insights into what went wrong and how to fix it.
    6. Reprocess Data:

      • If the change run was terminated due to an error, you may need to reprocess the data. This can be done by executing the change run again.

    Related Information:
