  • Message number: 518

  • Message text: Compare size of InfoCube fact table with fact index

  • Show details Hide details
  • Description
The test calculates the number of records in both fact tables (E and F
tables) for the InfoCube and compares them with the number of records in
the fact index of the BWA index.
If the number of records in the BWA index is significantly greater (>
10%) than the number of those in the InfoCube, you can improve query
performance by rebuilding the BWA index.
A difference in the number of records can be caused by the following:
The InfoCube was compressed after the BWA index was built. Since the BWA
index is not compressed, it can potentially contain more records than
    the InfoCube.
Requests were deleted from the InfoCube after the BWA index was built.
The requests are deleted from the BWA index in the package dimension
only. The records in the fact index are therefore no longer referenced
and no longer taken into account when the query is executed; they are
    not, however, deleted.
<ZH>Note that the database statistics</> for calculating the size of the
fact table <ZH>must be up to date</>, since the test does not recount
it uses the database statistics from the tables.
    Repair
It is not mandatory to rebuild the indexes, but this could be advisable
    if the difference is significant.

This error typically arises during the process of data loading or when performing queries against the InfoCube.

    Cause:

    2. Check Data Load Processes:

      • Review the data load processes to ensure that they completed successfully. Check for any errors or warnings in the data load logs.
      • If there are issues, re-run the data load process to ensure that all data is correctly loaded into the InfoCube.
    3. Data Consistency Check:

      • Use transaction code RSA1 to access the Data Warehousing Workbench.
      • Perform a consistency check on the InfoCube to identify any discrepancies between the fact table and the index.
    4. Delete and Reload Data:

      • If the issue persists, consider deleting the data from the InfoCube and reloading it from the source system. This can help ensure that both the fact table and the index are in sync.
    5. Consult SAP Notes:

      • Check the SAP Support Portal for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error. There may be patches or updates that can help resolve the issue.
    6. System Monitoring:
