  • What causes this issue?

While converting the Shapefiles into the Hana Spatial Format by the Hana
    Spatial Engine an error occurred.

    System Response

    Geotable Update cannot happen.

    How to fix this error?

    Check your Shapefiles:
    - The Shapefiles have to be uploaded in the Spatial Reference System
"WGS 84" with the SRID 4326.
    - The Spatial Reference System "WGS 84 / Pseudo Mercator" (SRID 3857) is
used to save the Spatial Data. This Spatial Reference System has
boundaries: Latitudes of more than +-86.1? must not be exceeded (e.g.
Antarctica does so). Please exclude such entries from the Shapefiles.
    - Are the Shapefiles matching? In case the dBase file (dbf) has been
altered, through adding/changing/altering entries a mismatch between it
and the Shapefile (shp) might have happened. (Adding the necessary
column with the characteristic values works and is not the cause of this
    error.)

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSD_GEO332 - Error while converting shapefiles into hana spatial format. ?

The SAP error message RSD_GEO332 typically occurs when there is an issue with converting shapefiles into the HANA spatial format. This error can arise due to various reasons, including issues with the shapefile itself, configuration problems, or compatibility issues with the HANA system.

    Causes of RSD_GEO332 Error

    1. Corrupted Shapefile: The shapefile may be corrupted or not properly formatted. This can include missing files (like .shx or .dbf), incorrect geometries, or unsupported geometrical types.

    2. Unsupported Geometry Types: HANA may not support certain geometry types present in the shapefile. For example, if the shapefile contains geometries that are not compatible with HANA spatial types, this error may occur.

    3. Data Type Mismatch: There may be a mismatch between the data types defined in the shapefile and those expected by HANA.

    4. Configuration Issues: Incorrect configuration settings in the SAP HANA system or the data import process can lead to this error.

    5. Version Compatibility: The version of the shapefile or the tools used for conversion may not be compatible with the version of SAP HANA you are using.

    Solutions to RSD_GEO332 Error

    1. Validate the Shapefile: Use GIS software (like QGIS or ArcGIS) to open and validate the shapefile. Ensure that all necessary files (.shp, .shx, .dbf) are present and that the geometries are valid.

    2. Check Geometry Types: Ensure that the geometries in the shapefile are supported by SAP HANA. Convert unsupported geometries to a compatible format if necessary.

    3. Recreate the Shapefile: If the shapefile is corrupted, try recreating it from the original data source or exporting it again from the GIS software.

    4. Review Configuration Settings: Check the configuration settings in your SAP HANA system related to spatial data import. Ensure that they are set correctly.

    5. Update Software: Ensure that you are using the latest version of SAP HANA and any related tools. Sometimes, bugs in older versions can cause issues that are resolved in updates.

    6. Consult Documentation: Refer to the SAP HANA documentation for specific requirements and limitations regarding shapefile imports and spatial data handling.

    7. Error Logs: Check the SAP HANA error logs for more detailed information about the error. This can provide insights into what specifically went wrong during the conversion process.

    8. Seek Support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to SAP support or consulting the SAP Community for assistance.

    Related Information

    • SAP HANA Spatial Documentation: Review the official SAP HANA documentation for spatial data handling, which provides guidelines on supported formats and data types.
    • GIS Tools: Familiarize yourself with GIS tools that can help in validating and converting shapefiles.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address known issues or provide patches related to spatial data handling.

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and resolve the RSD_GEO332 error effectively.
