Message text: DTP data source supports switch read process
You have created a data transfer process (DTP) based on a HybridProvider
with direct access. The system checks which properties the source has
and to what extent the HybridProvider supports these properties. There
are two possibilities:
The source supports the <ZK>Hybrid Delta</> read mode:
This means that the HybridProvider can read data from the InfoCube. Any
data which has not been loaded can also be read from the source.
The prerequisite for using this read mode is that the source must
support direct access.
The source supports the <ZK>Switch</> read mode:
The data can be either completely or partially read from the InfoCube
using the VirtualProvider.
This read mode can only be used if the source meets the following
requirements:
The source must support direct access.
The source must be a generic DataSource with generic delta. You cannot
maintain the lower safety interval due to the risk of duplicate data
records. The delta must be InfoCube-enabled.
The source supports the switch process.
You can use the request status (actual data) to control whether the data
is read from the InfoCube or the VirtualProvider. This means:
o,,Request status 0 and 1: Data is only read from the InfoCube.
o,,Request status 9: Data is only read from the VirtualProvider.
The request status can be set for all queries of a HybridProvider by
using transaction RSDIPROP. A query-specific status can also be set for
each specific query (or set as a variable) in the Query Designer: <LS>
Properties</> --> <LS>Advanced</>.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

RSBK103
- DTP data source supports switch read process ?The SAP error message RSBK103 indicates that the Data Transfer Process (DTP) is trying to read data from a data source that supports the "switch read" process, but the DTP is not configured to handle it correctly. This typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) when dealing with data extraction from InfoProviders or DataSources that have specific settings.
Cause:
The error usually arises due to one of the following reasons:
- Incompatible DTP Settings: The DTP is not configured to support the switch read process, which is required for certain types of data sources.
- DataSource Configuration: The DataSource may be set up to use a switch read process, but the DTP is not aligned with this configuration.
- DataSource Type: The DataSource might be a type that inherently requires switch read, such as certain types of ODS (Operational Data Store) or InfoCubes.
Solution:
To resolve the RSBK103 error, you can take the following steps:
Check DTP Settings:
- Open the DTP in the SAP BW system.
- Ensure that the DTP is configured to support the switch read process. This may involve adjusting the settings related to the data source.
Adjust DataSource Configuration:
- Go to the DataSource in the SAP BW system.
- Check if the DataSource is set to use the switch read process. If it is, ensure that the DTP is compatible with this setting.
Create a New DTP:
- If the current DTP cannot be modified to support the switch read process, consider creating a new DTP that is configured correctly for the DataSource.
Consult Documentation:
- Review SAP documentation or notes related to the specific DataSource and DTP settings to ensure compliance with best practices.
Check for SAP Notes:
- Look for any relevant SAP Notes that might address this specific error or provide additional guidance on configuring DTPs with switch read processes.
Related Information:
If the issue persists after following these steps, it may be beneficial to consult with your SAP Basis or BW team for further assistance, as they may have additional insights or access to system logs that can help diagnose the problem.
