  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSAR527 - Error with structure alignment ?

The SAP error message RSAR527, which indicates an "Error with structure alignment," typically arises in the context of data extraction or data transfer processes, particularly when dealing with DataSources, InfoObjects, or Data Transfer Processes (DTPs) in SAP BW (Business Warehouse).

    Cause:

The error RSAR527 is usually caused by misalignment between the data structure expected by the SAP system and the actual data structure being processed. This can happen due to several reasons, including:

    1. Changes in DataSource: If the structure of a DataSource has been modified (e.g., fields added, removed, or changed) after it has already been used in a DTP or InfoPackage, it can lead to alignment issues.
    2. Inconsistent Data Types: If the data types of fields in the source system do not match the expected data types in the target structure, it can cause alignment errors.
    3. Version Mismatch: If there are different versions of the DataSource or InfoObject being used, it can lead to discrepancies in structure.
    4. Transport Issues: If changes were transported from one system to another (e.g., from development to production) without proper adjustments, it can lead to alignment issues.

    Solution:

To resolve the RSAR527 error, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check DataSource Structure: Verify the structure of the DataSource in the source system and ensure it matches the expected structure in the target system. You can do this by comparing the DataSource definition in the source and target systems.

    2. Re-activate DataSource: If there have been changes to the DataSource, re-activate it in the SAP BW system. This can be done in the Data Warehousing Workbench (transaction RSA1) by navigating to the DataSource and choosing the option to activate it.

    3. Adjust DTP/InfoPackage: If the DTP or InfoPackage is using an outdated version of the DataSource, adjust it to use the latest version. You may need to delete and recreate the DTP or InfoPackage if necessary.

    4. Check Field Mappings: Ensure that the field mappings in the DTP are correct and that there are no discrepancies in data types or lengths.

    5. Transport Adjustments: If the issue arose after a transport, check the transport logs for any errors and ensure that all necessary objects were transported correctly.

    6. Data Type Consistency: Ensure that the data types in the source and target systems are consistent. If there are discrepancies, you may need to adjust the data types in the target system.

    7. Consult SAP Notes: Check the SAP Support Portal for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional guidance.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Common transaction codes related to DataSources and DTPs include RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench), RSO2 (Manage DataSource), and RSPC (Process Chain Maintenance).
    • SAP BW Documentation: Refer to the official SAP BW documentation for detailed information on DataSources, DTPs, and error handling.
    • SAP Community: Engage with the SAP Community forums for insights and solutions shared by other users who may have encountered similar issues.
