Message class: RS_PSA_DEP -
Message number: 086
Message text: Action not possible because PSA is currently being transferred
Persistent Staging Area &V1& is part of the object list of a BW4HANA
transfer that is currently running. The system prevents any changes
being made to this Persistent Staging Area so that the transfer can run
correctly.
The action has not been carried out.
In the case of an "Inplace" BW4HANA transfer, the action is likely to
remain impossible, because the persistent staging area will no longer
exist after the BW4HANA transfer. In some cases, persistent staging
areas are transferred to DataStore objects (advanced). It might then be
possible to do some corresponding action on this DataStore object
(advanced) after the BW4HANA transfer.
In the case of a remote BW4HANA transfer, repeat the action after the
BW4HANA transfer has finished.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

RS_PSA_DEP086
- Action not possible because PSA is currently being transferred ?The SAP error message RS_PSA_DEP086 indicates that an action cannot be performed on a Persistent Staging Area (PSA) because it is currently being transferred. This typically occurs when a data transfer process is in progress, and the system is preventing other operations on the PSA to ensure data integrity.
Cause:
- Ongoing Data Transfer: The most common cause of this error is that a data transfer process (like an ETL job) is currently running and is accessing the PSA.
- Locking Mechanism: SAP uses a locking mechanism to prevent concurrent access to the PSA during data transfers to avoid data inconsistencies.
- Long-running Processes: If the data transfer process is taking longer than expected, it may lead to this error if you try to perform another action on the PSA.
Solution:
- Wait for Completion: The simplest solution is to wait for the current data transfer process to complete. You can monitor the status of the data transfer in the SAP system.
- Check Process Status: Use transaction codes like SM37 (Job Monitoring) to check if there are any long-running jobs that are currently accessing the PSA.
- Cancel or Terminate the Process: If you determine that the data transfer process is stuck or taking too long, you may need to cancel or terminate it. Be cautious with this approach, as it may lead to data inconsistencies.
- Retry the Action: Once the data transfer is complete, you can retry the action that triggered the error.
