  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RS_PSA_DEL024 - * pattern: Requests are deleted in entire system; see long text ?

The SAP error message RS_PSA_DEL024 indicates that there is an issue related to the deletion of requests in the Persistent Staging Area (PSA) of SAP BW (Business Warehouse). This message typically arises when there is an attempt to delete requests from the PSA, and it is important to understand the context and implications of this action.

    Cause:

The error message RS_PSA_DEL024 is triggered when:

    • There is an attempt to delete requests from the PSA that are still being referenced or are in use by other processes.
    • The deletion process is not allowed because it would violate data integrity or dependencies within the system.
    • The deletion is being attempted in a way that is not supported by the current system configuration or settings.

    Solution:

To resolve the RS_PSA_DEL024 error, consider the following steps:

    1. Check Dependencies: Ensure that the requests you are trying to delete are not being used by any active processes, such as data loads or transformations. You may need to wait until these processes are completed.

    2. Review Authorization: Make sure that you have the necessary authorizations to delete requests from the PSA. Lack of proper permissions can lead to this error.

    3. Use the Correct Deletion Method: Instead of trying to delete requests directly, consider using the standard SAP BW transaction codes (like RSA1) to manage the deletion of requests. This ensures that the deletion is handled correctly by the system.

    4. Check for System Settings: Review the system settings related to data retention and deletion policies. There may be configurations that prevent the deletion of certain requests.

    5. Consult the Long Text: The error message often comes with a long text that provides additional context or specific instructions. Make sure to read this long text for more detailed guidance.

    6. System Logs: Check the system logs (transaction SLG1) for any additional error messages or warnings that may provide more insight into why the deletion is failing.

    7. Contact SAP Support: If the issue persists and you cannot identify the cause, consider reaching out to SAP support for assistance. They can provide more specific guidance based on your system configuration and version.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench) for managing data in BW.
    • Data Management: Understand the data management processes in SAP BW, including how data is loaded, transformed, and stored in the PSA.
    • Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation and notes related to PSA management and error handling for more detailed information.

By following these steps, you should be able to address the RS_PSA_DEL024 error and successfully manage the deletion of requests in the PSA.
