RS_ADSO_MODEL217
- '&1': illegal 'Master Data Check'-mode for TIME characteristic ?The SAP error message RS_ADSO_MODEL217 indicates that there is an issue with the configuration of a time characteristic in an Advanced DataStore Object (ADSO) model. Specifically, it points to an illegal 'Master Data Check' mode for a time characteristic, which typically arises when the settings for handling time-related data are not correctly configured.
Cause:
- Incorrect Configuration: The error usually occurs when the time characteristic is set to a master data check mode that is not compatible with its nature. For example, if the time characteristic is defined in a way that expects it to behave like a master data object, but it is being treated as a transactional data object.
- Modeling Issues: The ADSO model may have been incorrectly defined, leading to conflicts in how the time characteristic is expected to behave.
- Incompatibility with Data Source: The data source feeding into the ADSO may not align with the expected format or structure for the time characteristic.
Solution:
Check ADSO Configuration: Review the configuration of the ADSO model in the SAP BW/4HANA system. Ensure that the time characteristic is correctly defined and that its properties align with the intended use.
- Go to the ADSO definition and check the settings for the time characteristic.
- Ensure that the 'Master Data Check' mode is appropriate for the time characteristic.
Adjust Master Data Settings: If the time characteristic is not meant to be treated as master data, adjust its settings accordingly. You may need to set it to a mode that allows for transactional data processing instead.
Review Data Source: Ensure that the data source feeding into the ADSO is providing data in the expected format for the time characteristic. If necessary, modify the data extraction or transformation process to align with the ADSO's requirements.
Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidelines on configuring time characteristics in ADSO models. This can provide insights into best practices and common pitfalls.
Testing: After making changes, test the ADSO to ensure that the error is resolved and that data can be loaded without issues.
