RS2HANA_VIEW163
- External SAP HANA view: incorrect data due to authorizations possible ?The SAP error message RS2HANA_VIEW163 indicates that there is a potential issue with data visibility in an external SAP HANA view due to authorization restrictions. This error typically arises when a user does not have the necessary authorizations to access certain data within the HANA view, which can lead to incomplete or incorrect data being displayed.
Cause:
- Authorization Issues: The primary cause of this error is that the user executing the query does not have the required authorizations to access all the data in the HANA view. This can happen if the user lacks the necessary roles or permissions assigned in the SAP system.
- Data Security: The system is designed to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive data, which can lead to situations where users see only a subset of the data or receive warnings about potential data inaccuracies.
- View Configuration: The HANA view itself may be configured in a way that restricts data access based on user roles or attributes.
Solution:
Check User Authorizations:
- Review the roles and authorizations assigned to the user encountering the error. Ensure that the user has the necessary permissions to access the data in the HANA view.
- Use transaction codes like

to analyze authorization failures after the error occurs.Adjust Roles and Permissions:
- If the user lacks the required authorizations, work with your SAP security team to adjust the roles and permissions accordingly.
- Ensure that the roles include access to the relevant data sources and HANA views.
Review HANA View Configuration:
- Check the configuration of the HANA view to ensure that it is set up correctly and that there are no unintended restrictions based on user roles or attributes.
- If necessary, modify the view to allow broader access or create a new view that meets the authorization requirements.
Testing:
- After making changes to authorizations or view configurations, test the access again to ensure that the error is resolved and that the user can see the correct data.
Related Information:
By addressing the authorization issues and ensuring proper configuration of the HANA view, you should be able to resolve the RS2HANA_VIEW163 error and ensure that users can access the correct data without restrictions.
