  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RS2HANA_AUTH018 - Input could not be checked (runtime: &1s) ?

The SAP error message RS2HANA_AUTH018 typically indicates an issue related to authorization checks when trying to access or execute a certain operation in SAP HANA. The message suggests that the input could not be validated due to a runtime issue, which is often linked to authorization settings or system performance.

    Cause:

    1. Authorization Issues: The user executing the operation may not have the necessary authorizations to perform the action. This could be due to missing roles or permissions in the SAP system.
    2. Performance Issues: The runtime duration indicated (e.g., &1s) suggests that the operation may be taking too long to execute, which could lead to timeouts or failures in processing the request.
    3. Configuration Problems: There may be misconfigurations in the system that prevent proper authorization checks from being executed.
    4. System Load: High system load or resource constraints could also lead to performance issues, causing the authorization check to fail.

    Solution:

    1. Check User Authorizations:

      • Verify that the user has the necessary roles and authorizations to perform the action. This can be done through transaction codes like SU01 (User Maintenance) and PFCG (Role Maintenance).
      • Ensure that the user has the appropriate access to the relevant HANA objects.
    2. Monitor System Performance:

      • Check the system performance metrics to see if there are any bottlenecks or high resource usage that could be affecting the execution time.
      • Use transaction codes like ST03N (Workload Analysis) or SM50 (Process Overview) to monitor system performance.
    3. Review Configuration:

      • Ensure that the configuration settings for the HANA database and the SAP system are correctly set up to allow for proper authorization checks.
      • Check for any recent changes in configuration that might have affected the authorization checks.
    4. Increase Timeout Settings:

      • If the operation is expected to take longer due to the complexity of the query or data volume, consider increasing the timeout settings in the relevant configuration.
    5. Consult SAP Notes:

      • Look for any relevant SAP Notes or updates that might address this specific error message. SAP frequently releases patches and updates that can resolve known issues.
    6. Contact SAP Support:

      • If the issue persists after checking the above points, consider reaching out to SAP Support for further assistance. Provide them with detailed information about the error, including the context in which it occurs.

    Related Information:
