  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RMSRCPDIA137 - Recipe is consistent: only restricted changes are possible ?

The SAP error message RMSRCPDIA137, which states "Recipe is consistent: only restricted changes are possible," typically occurs in the context of SAP Recipe Management (RM) or SAP Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). This message indicates that the recipe you are trying to modify is in a state where only certain types of changes can be made due to its current status or configuration.

    Cause:

    1. Recipe Status: The recipe may be in a status that restricts changes. For example, it could be released or approved, which means that only minor adjustments (like changing descriptions or notes) are allowed.
    2. Change Management Settings: The system may have been configured to enforce strict change management policies, preventing significant modifications to recipes that are already validated or approved.
    3. Dependencies: There may be dependencies or links to other objects (like production orders or batches) that prevent changes to the recipe.

    Solution:

    1. Check Recipe Status: Review the status of the recipe. If it is in a released or approved state, you may need to change its status to allow for more extensive modifications. This could involve un-releasing or unapproving the recipe, depending on your organization's processes.
    2. Limited Changes: If you only need to make minor changes, proceed with those allowed changes. This could include updating descriptions, notes, or other non-critical fields.
    3. Consult Change Management Policies: Review your organization's change management policies to understand what types of changes are permissible and under what conditions.
    4. Use Change Documents: If significant changes are necessary, consider creating a change document or a new version of the recipe. This allows you to maintain the integrity of the original recipe while making necessary updates.
    5. Authorization: Ensure you have the necessary authorizations to make changes to the recipe. If not, you may need to contact your system administrator or a colleague with the appropriate permissions.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Documentation: Refer to the SAP Help Portal or specific documentation related to Recipe Management for detailed guidelines on managing recipe statuses and change management.
    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes (like C201 for creating recipes, C202 for changing recipes) that may help you navigate the recipe management process.
    • User Roles: Ensure that your user role has the necessary permissions to perform the actions you are attempting. This may involve checking with your SAP security team.

If the issue persists after following these steps, it may be beneficial to consult with your SAP support team or a functional consultant who specializes in Recipe Management for further assistance.
