Message text: Scope of application &1 already exists in the target system
The update indicator "I" (= insert) is used in recipe distribution.
When you distribute the scope of application, the system checks whether
the scope of application already exists before it transfers the data.
Since the scope of application to be distributed already exists in the
target system, no data is transferred.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Since the scope of application already exists in the target system, the
distribution can be performed in the update mode only.
You only need to change the value of the update indicator in the
structure of the general recipe to "U". You do not need to set the
update indicator in lower-level structures.

RMSRCP290
- Scope of application &1 already exists in the target system ?The SAP error message RMSRCP290 indicates that there is a conflict with the scope of application (or "scope") you are trying to import or replicate into the target system. Specifically, it means that the scope of application you are attempting to create or modify already exists in the target system.
Cause:
- Duplicate Scope: The most common cause of this error is that the scope of application you are trying to import already exists in the target system. This can happen if the scope was previously imported or created manually.
- Incorrect Configuration: There may be a misconfiguration in the source or target system that leads to the system believing that the scope already exists.
- Transport Issues: If you are using transport requests to move configurations between systems, there may be an issue with the transport that has already included the scope.
Solution:
Check Existing Scopes:
- Go to the target system and check the existing scopes of application. You can do this by navigating to the relevant transaction or configuration area where scopes are managed.
- If the scope already exists and is not needed, you may consider deleting it or renaming it if applicable.
Modify the Import:
- If you need to keep the existing scope, you may need to modify your import request to either skip the scope or adjust it to avoid the conflict.
Use a Different Name:
- If you are creating a new scope, consider using a different name that does not conflict with existing scopes.
Transport Request Review:
- If the scope was supposed to be included in a transport request, review the transport logs to ensure that it was not already transported to the target system.
Consult Documentation:
- Check SAP documentation or notes related to the specific module or functionality you are working with for any additional guidance or known issues.
