RH142
- Values for InfoObject &1 still exist in hierarchies ?The SAP error message RH142 indicates that there are still values for a specific InfoObject that exist in hierarchies, which prevents certain operations from being completed, such as deleting or modifying the InfoObject. This typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP BI (Business Intelligence) when dealing with characteristics and their hierarchies.
Cause:
The error occurs when you attempt to delete or modify an InfoObject that is still being referenced in one or more hierarchies. Hierarchies are structures that define relationships between different values of an InfoObject, and if any of these relationships are still active, the system will not allow changes to the InfoObject.
Solution:
To resolve this error, you can follow these steps:
Identify the Hierarchies:
- Use transaction code
RSH1
(for Hierarchy Maintenance) to check which hierarchies are associated with the InfoObject in question.- You can also use transaction code
RSA1
(Data Warehousing Workbench) to navigate to the InfoObject and check its hierarchy assignments.Remove or Adjust Hierarchies:
- If you find that the InfoObject is still being used in hierarchies, you will need to either delete those hierarchies or adjust them so that they no longer reference the InfoObject.
- To delete a hierarchy, you can use transaction code
RSH1
, select the hierarchy, and delete it.Check for Other Dependencies:
- Ensure that there are no other dependencies or objects (like queries, reports, or data models) that are still using the InfoObject. You may need to check for any queries in the BEx Query Designer or other reporting tools.
Re-attempt the Operation:
- Once you have removed the references to the InfoObject in the hierarchies, you can re-attempt the operation that triggered the error.
Transport Changes:
- If you are working in a development environment and need to transport changes to a production environment, ensure that all changes are properly documented and transported.
