How To Fix REMPT161 - Line &1 has several capacity segments: No dispatching possible

SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: REMPT - Message Class for REM Planning Table (Rel. 99)

  • Message number: 161

  • Message text: Line &1 has several capacity segments: No dispatching possible

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

Line hierarchy &V1& has several capacity segments.

    System Response

No dispatching is carried out because in the planning table all planned
capacity segments of the order are always dispatched. Unfortunately due
to technical reasons, it is not possible to dispatch individual
operations. If, however, all planned operations were dispatched and
then individual operations were postponed, this would not affect the
other, already dispatched operations. This situation is especially
problematic when an order is changed in which only one individual
operation is dispatched. It would not usually be desirable in this case
for the planning table to dispatch the complete order. This is only
possible from the capacity planning table.

    How to fix this error?

Use the capacity planning table for dispatching or only define one
capacity segment for the line hierarchy.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message REMPT161 - Line &1 has several capacity segments: No dispatching possible ?

The SAP error message REMPT161, which states "Line &1 has several capacity segments: No dispatching possible," typically occurs in the context of production planning and scheduling within the SAP system. This error indicates that the system has identified multiple capacity segments for a particular production line, which prevents it from dispatching operations to that line.

    Cause:

    1. Multiple Capacity Segments: The production line (work center) has been defined with multiple capacity segments. Each segment can represent different capacities or availability times, and if they are not aligned properly, the system cannot determine how to dispatch operations.
    2. Configuration Issues: There may be configuration issues in the work center settings, such as incorrect definitions of capacity segments or overlapping time periods.
    3. Capacity Planning Settings: The settings for capacity planning may not be correctly configured, leading to conflicts in how the system interprets the available capacity.

    Solution:

    1. Review Capacity Segments: Check the capacity segments defined for the work center in question. Ensure that they are correctly set up and that there are no overlaps or conflicts in the time periods.
      • Go to the work center configuration (Transaction code: CR02) and review the capacity segments.
    2. Consolidate Capacity Segments: If possible, consolidate the capacity segments into a single segment if they represent the same type of capacity. This can simplify the dispatching process.
    3. Adjust Scheduling Parameters: Review and adjust the scheduling parameters for the work center to ensure they align with the production requirements.
    4. Check for Open Orders: Ensure that there are no open production orders or planned orders that are causing conflicts with the capacity segments.
    5. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on capacity segment configuration and management.
