Message class: R9 - Business Explorer
Message number: 170
Message text: Component &1 has UID &2 and UID &3 in remote systems
Within the BI Content system landscape, the system checks whether a quer
y component with the same technical name already exists in another
system and whether it uses the same UID.
In this case, it was found that technical name &V1& exists in several sy
stems; the technical name occurs with both UID &V2& and UID &V3&.
This situation is not permitted; the save process was terminated.
In the source systems (all systems for which destination BEX_UID_LOOKUP_
* has been maintained in SM59), examine why an object exists with a
technical name and multiple UIDs. In most cases, this is caused when an
object is developed in different systems in parallel and no uniform
naming convention is used.
If possible, delete the component with the name &V1& in one system and r
ecreate it. The system receives the same name as long as it is in the
system group.
Alternatively, you can save your component with a different technical na
me.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

R9170
- Component &1 has UID &2 and UID &3 in remote systems ?The SAP error message R9170 indicates that there is a conflict with the Unique Identifiers (UIDs) of a component in remote systems. This typically occurs in scenarios involving system landscapes where components are replicated or synchronized across different systems, such as in a distributed environment or during system migrations.
Cause:
The error message R9170 is triggered when the same component is identified by different UIDs in different systems. This can happen due to:
- Inconsistent Configuration: The component may have been configured differently in the source and target systems, leading to mismatched UIDs.
- Transport Issues: If transports are not correctly imported or if there are issues during the transport process, it can lead to discrepancies in component UIDs.
- Manual Changes: Manual changes made to the component in one system without corresponding changes in the other systems can lead to UID conflicts.
- System Copy or Migration: During system copies or migrations, if the UIDs are not properly adjusted, it can lead to conflicts.
Solution:
To resolve the R9170 error, you can follow these steps:
- Identify the Systems: Determine which systems are involved and identify the components with conflicting UIDs.
- Check Configuration: Review the configuration of the component in both systems to ensure they are consistent. This may involve checking the settings, parameters, and any related objects.
- Transport Consistency: Ensure that all transports related to the component have been correctly imported into both systems. If there are missing transports, import them.
- Adjust UIDs: If necessary, you may need to adjust the UIDs in one of the systems to ensure they match. This can be a complex process and should be done with caution.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or notes related to the specific component and error message for additional guidance.
- SAP Support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to SAP Support for assistance, especially if it involves critical components or production systems.
