Message class: R8 - Messages from the meta data generation
Message number: 372
Message text: DataSource does not support data transfer method "PSA"
This DataSource is set so that data should only be transferred to BI
using an IDoc (transfer method: <LS>IDoc Only</>). Therefore the
DataSource can only be used in restricted form in BI. You cannot use
this DataSource with new metadata objects.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Where possible, choose a transfer method that supports the loading of
data to the PSA (<LS>PSA or IDoc</> or <LS>PSA</>).
This technical property is stored in table ROOSOURCE in field TFMETHODS.
For hierarchies, TFMETHODS = ' ' is interpreted as <LS>IDoc Only</>.
This property can be maintained in transaction RSA2 by choosing
<PF>Hierarchy Info</>.

R8372
- DataSource does not support data transfer method "PSA" ?The SAP error message R8372 indicates that the DataSource you are trying to use does not support the data transfer method "PSA" (Persistent Staging Area). This typically occurs when you are attempting to load data into an InfoProvider using a DataSource that is not configured to use the PSA method.
Cause:
- DataSource Configuration: The DataSource may not be set up to support the PSA method. This can happen if the DataSource is designed for direct extraction or if it is a non-PSA DataSource.
- DataSource Type: Some DataSources, especially those that are based on certain types of extraction (like certain types of flat file or direct extraction from a source system), may not support the PSA.
- Version Compatibility: There may be compatibility issues with the version of SAP you are using, or the DataSource may not be compatible with the current setup.
Solution:
Check DataSource Settings:
- Go to the DataSource in the SAP BW system and check its settings. Ensure that it is configured to support PSA. You can do this by navigating to the DataSource in the Data Warehousing Workbench (transaction RSA1) and checking the properties.
Use a Different Data Transfer Method:
- If the DataSource does not support PSA, consider using a different data transfer method that is supported by the DataSource. This could involve using direct data transfer methods or other staging techniques.
Update or Redefine the DataSource:
- If possible, redefine the DataSource to support PSA. This may involve creating a new DataSource or modifying the existing one to ensure it can handle PSA.
Consult Documentation:
- Review the SAP documentation for the specific DataSource you are using to understand its capabilities and limitations regarding data transfer methods.
Check for Notes and Updates:
- Look for any SAP Notes or updates that may address this issue. Sometimes, SAP releases patches or notes that provide solutions for specific error messages.
