Message text: Deactivating an active BW partner namespace can cause problems
You are deactivating a BW partner namespace that is currently active.
When you activate a BW partner namespace, the namespace is set to not
ready for input. This safety mechanism is deactivated when you reset the
active flag, and the assignment of object namespace and generation
namespace can be changed again.
The system does not check whether BW objects have already been created
in this namespace however.
You should only deactivate the BW namespace if it does not have any
usages yet, or if all usages have been deleted.
If the assigned generation namespace of an object namespace is changed,
all runtime objects of this object namespace become inconsistent.
Changes to table RSNSPACE are subject to change recording and can be
displayed using the table history transaction (SCU3).
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

R7B409
- Deactivating an active BW partner namespace can cause problems ?The SAP error message R7B409 indicates that there is an attempt to deactivate an active Business Warehouse (BW) partner namespace, which can lead to potential issues in the system. This error typically arises in the context of managing namespaces in SAP BW, particularly when dealing with partner namespaces that are currently in use.
Cause:
The primary cause of this error is the attempt to deactivate a namespace that is actively being used by one or more objects in the BW system. Partner namespaces are often used for third-party or external content, and deactivating them can disrupt the functionality of reports, queries, or data flows that rely on those namespaces.
Solution:
To resolve this error, consider the following steps:
Identify Dependencies: Before deactivating a namespace, check for any objects (like InfoObjects, InfoProviders, queries, etc.) that are dependent on that namespace. You can use transaction codes like RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench) to analyze the dependencies.
Remove Dependencies: If there are active objects using the namespace, you will need to either delete or modify those objects to remove the dependency on the namespace you wish to deactivate.
Consult Documentation: Review the documentation or guidelines provided by SAP regarding the specific partner namespace. There may be specific instructions or considerations for deactivating that namespace.
Backup: Always ensure that you have a backup of your BW objects and data before making changes to namespaces. This will allow you to restore functionality if something goes wrong.
Deactivate Carefully: Once you have ensured that there are no active dependencies, you can proceed to deactivate the namespace. Use the appropriate transaction (like RSPC for process chains) to deactivate the namespace safely.
Testing: After deactivation, conduct thorough testing to ensure that all BW functionalities are working as expected and that no reports or processes are affected.
