Message class: R7B - BW Metadata (InfoCube, InfoObject, InfoObject catalog)
Message number: 040
Message text: InfoCube &1 can only be completed "additively" -> long text
An InfoCube, that has already been activated and contains data, must
only be changed by "additive" fashion, meaning deletions and structural
changes are not permitted.
Thus
InfoObjects may be added to it,
new dimensions may be defined,
InfoObjects for existing dimensions may be written to it.
You may not, however,
change the InfoCube type
remove InfoObjects,
change the assignment of InfoObjects to dimensions
and so on.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Define the InfoCube in such a way that all of its structural properties
are kept in place and can only be supplemented by additional
InfoObjects or dimensions.

- InfoCube &1 can only be completed "additively" -> long text ?The SAP error message R7B040 indicates that an InfoCube can only be completed "additively." This typically occurs in the context of data loading or data processing in SAP BW (Business Warehouse) when you are trying to load data into an InfoCube that is configured to accept only additive data.
Cause:
- Additive Data Requirement: The InfoCube is set up to only accept additive data, meaning that it can only add new data to existing records rather than overwrite or change existing data. This is common for certain types of data, such as sales figures, where you want to accumulate totals rather than replace them.
- Data Load Type: The data load you are attempting may be trying to overwrite existing records instead of adding to them. This can happen if the data source or transformation is not configured correctly.
- Key Figures Configuration: The key figures in the InfoCube may be set to additive, which means they cannot be updated with non-additive data.
Solution:
- Check InfoCube Configuration: Review the configuration of the InfoCube to ensure that it is set up correctly for additive data. You can do this in the InfoCube settings in the SAP BW modeling tools.
- Adjust Data Load Process: Ensure that the data load process is configured to add data rather than overwrite it. This may involve adjusting the transformation rules or the data source settings.
- Use Correct Data Source: Make sure that the data source you are using for the load is appropriate for additive data. If the data source is meant to provide non-additive data, consider using a different source or modifying the data before loading.
- Review Key Figures: Check the key figures in the InfoCube to ensure they are set to additive where necessary. If you need to load non-additive data, consider creating a separate InfoCube or key figure for that purpose.
