- Characteristic &1: Navigation attribute &2 deleted (possibly converted) ?The SAP error message R7039 indicates that a navigation attribute associated with a characteristic has been deleted or possibly converted. This typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP HANA when dealing with InfoObjects and their attributes.
Cause:
- Deletion of Navigation Attribute: The navigation attribute specified in the error message has been removed from the characteristic. This can happen during data model changes or when an InfoObject is modified.
- Conversion of Navigation Attribute: The navigation attribute may have been converted to a different type or structure, which can lead to inconsistencies in the data model.
- Transport Issues: If changes were transported from one system to another (e.g., from development to production), there might be inconsistencies if the transport did not include all necessary objects or if there were manual changes made in the target system.
Solution:
- Check the InfoObject: Go to the InfoObject maintenance transaction (e.g.,
RSD1
) and verify the characteristics and their navigation attributes. Ensure that the navigation attribute in question still exists.- Recreate the Navigation Attribute: If the navigation attribute has been deleted, you may need to recreate it. This involves defining the attribute again and ensuring it is correctly linked to the characteristic.
- Review Transport Requests: If the issue arose after a transport, check the transport logs to ensure that all necessary objects were included and that there were no errors during the transport process.
- Data Model Consistency: Run consistency checks on your data model to identify any other potential issues that may have arisen due to the deletion or conversion of the navigation attribute.
- Adjust Queries: If the navigation attribute is used in queries or reports, you may need to adjust those queries to remove references to the deleted attribute or to accommodate any changes made.
