QS086
- Class characteristic has more than one interval ?The SAP error message QS086, which states "Class characteristic has more than one interval," typically occurs in the context of Quality Management (QM) when dealing with class characteristics that are defined with intervals in the classification system. This error indicates that the system has detected multiple intervals for a single characteristic, which is not allowed.
Cause:
- Multiple Intervals Defined: The primary cause of this error is that the characteristic in question has been defined with more than one interval. In SAP, a characteristic can only have one interval for a specific value range.
- Incorrect Configuration: There may be a configuration issue where the intervals for the characteristic were not set up correctly, leading to overlapping or multiple intervals.
- Data Entry Error: During the creation or modification of the characteristic, multiple intervals may have been inadvertently entered.
Solution:
Review Characteristic Configuration:
- Go to the classification view in SAP and check the characteristic settings.
- Ensure that the characteristic has only one interval defined. If there are multiple intervals, you will need to consolidate them into a single interval.
Modify or Delete Extra Intervals:
- If you find multiple intervals, decide which one is correct and delete or modify the others to ensure that only one interval remains.
- Make sure that the remaining interval accurately reflects the intended value range for the characteristic.
Check for Overlaps:
- Ensure that the intervals do not overlap. If they do, adjust the ranges so that they are distinct and do not conflict with each other.
Testing:
- After making the necessary changes, test the characteristic to ensure that the error no longer occurs and that the characteristic behaves as expected in the classification system.
