QC147
- Maximum number of characteristics reached ?The SAP error message QC147, which states "Maximum number of characteristics reached," typically occurs in the context of Quality Management (QM) when you are trying to create or modify a Quality Inspection Lot or a Quality Notification, and you exceed the predefined limit of characteristics that can be assigned to that object.
Cause:
- Limit Exceeded: Each inspection lot or notification has a maximum number of characteristics that can be assigned to it. This limit is defined in the system configuration.
- Configuration Settings: The maximum number of characteristics is set in the system parameters, and it may vary based on the specific configuration of your SAP environment.
- Data Entry Error: Sometimes, this error can occur if there is an attempt to add more characteristics than allowed due to a misunderstanding of the system's limits.
Solution:
Review Configuration: Check the configuration settings in the Quality Management module to see what the maximum number of characteristics is set to. This can usually be found in the customizing settings under:
- SPRO ? Quality Management ? Quality Inspection ? Inspection Lot Creation ? Define Characteristics.
Reduce Characteristics: If you are hitting the limit, consider whether all the characteristics you are trying to assign are necessary. You may need to remove some characteristics from the inspection lot or notification.
Increase Limit: If your business process requires more characteristics than the current limit, you may need to work with your SAP Basis or configuration team to increase the limit in the system settings.
Batch Processing: If applicable, consider breaking down the inspection lot into smaller batches that can each have their own set of characteristics, thus avoiding the limit.
Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on managing characteristics in your version of SAP.
